This is a fixed-term appointment with an initial duration of 4 years. Depending upon performance and organisational needs, the appointment may be extended up to a possible maximum duration of 8 years.

Social Media Coordination Officer within the Digital and Print Products and Channels Office, of the Communication Department, within DG Services. You are responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating ESA’s social media strategy across the ESA flagship social media channels, and ensuring a coordinated approach to social media activities throughout the Agency.

In performing these duties, you will rely on, and/or work closely with:

  • the Digital and Print Products and Channels Office
  • the Corporate and Institutional Communication Office
  • the ESA Member States Outreach Office

Duties

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and coordinate posts on ESA’s flagship social media channels in line with the Communication Department’s editorial planning;
  • Plan and coordinate social media campaigns together with the Communication Department relevant offices, and elsewhere in the Agency, and with external partners such as Member States, Industry and other relevant governmental agencies and organisations;
  • Coordinate the social media content creator programme to spread the ESA brand and messaging with the objective of fostering a collaborative and engaged social media network;
  • Support the Head of Office in the development of an ESA-wide social media strategy;
  • Manage the development and implementation of social media guidelines throughout the Agency;
  • Provide guidance and training to the ESA workforce on the use of social media in supporting the promotion of ESA’s activities;
  • Oversee monthly social media reporting for the Agency’s corporate social media channels;
  • Act in direct coordination with the Head of Office to ensure the management of contracts falling under the responsibility of this post.

In addition, you will:

  • Ensure the Agency’s brand is applied correctly across ESA’s social media channels in liaison with the ESA Branding Outreach Office;
  • Ensure ESA’s privacy policy is correctly implemented on its social media channels in liaison with the ESA Legal Services Department.

Education and professional experience

A master's degree in digital communication, or related domain is required for this post together with 8 years of relevant professional experience.

Additional requirements

Proven communication skills, writing skills, demonstrated planning and organisation, keen relationship-management ability, problem-solving, results-oriented, with demonstrated competence in digital communication and social media campaigns. Experience of working in an international organisation is desirable.

Good knowledge of ESA, its programmes and the Communication Department’s mandate and role is required.

Important Information and Disclaimer

In principle, recruitment will be within the advertised grade band (A2-A4). However, if the selected candidate has less than four years of relevant professional experience following the completion of the master’s degree, the position may be filled at A1 level.

Note that ESA is in the process of transitioning to a Matrix setup, which could lead to organisational changes affecting this position.

According to the ESA Convention, staff shall be recruited on the basis of their qualifications, taking into account an adequate distribution of posts among nationals of the Member States.

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
