At Capgemini Engineering, the world leader in engineering services, we bring together a global team of engineers, scientists, and architects to help the world's most innovative companies unleash their potential. From autonomous cars to life-saving robots, our digital and software technology experts think outside the box as they provide unique R&D and engineering services across all industries.

Joining Capgemini's hardware team

You will be joining a team of passionate engineers working at the cutting edge of high-tech mechanical design. Based in Eindhoven - the heart of Europe's semiconductor and high-tech industry - you will be embedded in a world-leading OEM environment, delivering complex mechanical design work that directly shapes the products of tomorrow.

This opportunity is suited to a driven, experienced engineer ready to take full ownership of their work, raise standards around them, and take the next step toward a Lead Engineer position.

Your role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own complex mechanical design work packages from concept through to release. You will be a central figure in a high-profile programme at a world-leading semiconductor OEM.

Using CAD, PLM, and PDM tools, you will create and maintain 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and Technical Product Documentation (TPD). This documentation supports manufacturing, assembly, testing, and servicing.

You will manage design changes in line with Change Management guidelines, keeping decisions and requirements fully traceable. GD&T principles and tolerance analysis will be part of your everyday toolkit, helping to define critical interfaces and performance requirements.

In this role you will play a key role in:

  • Proactively identifying technical risks, dependencies, and interface issues, proposing mitigation strategies and communicating them early to the Lead Engineer, Product Owner, or Project Manager.
  • Leading and facilitating technical discussions for assigned work packages, including design alignment, trade-off analyses, and interface reviews, and capturing outcomes clearly.
  • Reviewing the work of Design Engineers through structured peer reviews, providing constructive feedback and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders including suppliers, factory and field teams, and cross-disciplinary colleagues to deliver solutions and resolve technical challenges.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of team ways of working and sharing knowledge through Community of Practice (CoP) sessions and similar forums.

Your profile

We are looking for a technically strong and collaborative engineer who brings both hands-on design expertise and the leadership behaviors needed to grow into a Lead Engineer role.

You have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering mechanical design work independently with strong quality ownership.
  • Strong proficiency with relevant CAD and PLM/PDM tooling, with a proven track record of creating and releasing drawings, 3D models, and BOMs to a high standard.
  • Practical experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis, and comfort applying relevant industry and client-specific standards to define critical interfaces and performance requirements.
  • Experience working in client-facing or multi-stakeholder environments, including the ability to explain technical decisions clearly and incorporate feedback constructively.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers and conducting design reviews, whether formally or informally.
  • Pride in raising the standard of work around you.
  • Fluent English communication skills at minimum C1 level, with the ability to engage across disciplines, with suppliers, and with senior stakeholders.
  • Motivation to grow into a Lead Engineer role, with demonstrated early leadership behaviors such as facilitating meetings, driving improvements, and taking ownership of small technical topics.

What we offer

  • 8% holiday allowance and 26 vacation days, with an option to purchase additional leave.
  • Annual bonus based on performance.
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid working options to support your lifestyle and well-being.
  • Access to career development programs, certifications, and digital learning platforms to support your growth.
  • A workplace recognized by Ethisphere as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.
