Vanderlande offers an internship/graduation assignment focused on AI-driven engineering and the path to zero-error automation.

Description of assignment

During the engineering phase of a project, the Controls Project Engineer translates various input such as electrical and mechanical drawings, layouts, and functional specifications into detailed engineering outputs, including interface specifications and low level software and parameter files. Currently, much of this work is performed manually, resulting in a high level of repetitive effort and an increased risk of errors. The objective of this assignment is to automate parts of this engineering process to reduce manual work, shorten the engineering lead time, and minimize errors caused by manual data handling.

Department description

MDG Loop Sorters is responsible for deployment of loopsorters in the global organization. The team is involved from the sales phase of projects and works together with all 8 Customer Centers plus Branch Offices around the globe.

The department also works actively with the loopsorter Technology team. Besides project execution of loopsorter scope in projects, including engineering, commissioning and integration, this also includes tooling, competence management, training, and supporting service and engineering in branch offices worldwide. These loopsorters, Crossorter and Helixorter, are applied in multiple market segments, including Airports, Parcel, and Warehouse Automation.

The total team consists of around 80 people, of which 35 are in India, and executes projects that range from small sorters with manual induction to large systems with complex sorting algorithms and high capacity inducts.
