As a State Estimator Visualization intern, you work on a data driven challenge within the energy transition. You develop interactive visualizations based on real grid data. Your work helps engineers better understand and improve electricity networks.

The energy transition is impossible without you as an intern

During this graduation internship, you work on developing an interactive visualization of state-estimator results within the electricity grid. You explore how deviations and uncertainties in data can be made visible and understandable for engineers and analysts.

You contribute by working on:

  • Analyzing how the state-estimator model works and which data is required.
  • Investigating how data quality affects state-estimator results.
  • Developing and extending an existing visualization using real grid data.
  • Visualizing deviations and uncertainties in a clear and intuitive way.
  • Translating technical insights into a user-friendly solution for engineers.

You make the grid more complete at Alliander

Alliander consists of several companies working together on a reliable and future-proof energy grid. With a large group of professionals, we develop and manage the energy grid for millions of residents and entrepreneurs in the Netherlands.

At Alliander, within the AI for Energy Grids / RCDT department, you will work in a team focused on applying data science and advanced models to better understand and improve energy networks. You become part of an international team of PhD candidates from different Dutch universities and experienced data scientists. The atmosphere is open and focused on collaboration and knowledge sharing. There is plenty of room to ask questions and learn from each other. Monday is the fixed office day in Arnhem, where the team works together on location and joins the weekly stand-up at 11:00.

You make the grid more energetic

Getting to know the business world while working on your personal development. We are happy to support you with that. You learn from us, and we learn from you. Especially if you also bring:

  • A HBO or WO background in Data Science, Data Engineering or Software Engineering.
  • Experience with data analysis and working with complex datasets.
  • Creative thinking for designing effective and clear visualizations.
  • Good communication skills to explain insights to engineers and analysts.
  • For this internship, it is required that you are living in the Netherlands and have a good command of the English language.

Better arranged for you

  • An internship allowance of €550.00 based on a 40-hour work week.
  • A laptop and, if needed for the assignment, a phone.
  • A mileage allowance if you do not have access to a student public transport card.
  • Close supervision on content and support on code quality through code reviews.
