TomTom is looking for an Employment Legal Counsel to provide practical daily employment law advice on a wide range of matters in a global environment.
What you'll do
- Provide practical daily employment law advice on various employment matters, such as recruitment, compensation and benefits, performance management, illness and terminations.
- Support and interpret external legal advice from countries around the world where TomTom maintains a presence.
- Collaborate with local outside counsels, when necessary, to ensure stakeholders receive pragmatic and meaningful advice while helping control external legal spend.
- Lead on HR legal matters for global organizational changes and redundancies, guiding and supporting processes delivered by the employee relations team.
- Monitor legal and legislative developments to help ensure compliance with international, federal, and local employment laws.
- Create efficiency in processes to help the people team provide excellent service, for example by further standardizing ways of working in the employment relations team.
- Provide consultation on projects on the HR roadmap, such as performance management, data protection, remuneration schemes, and talent processes.
- Draft, revise, review, and sign off on a range of employment-related templates, such as offer letters, employment agreements, settlement and separation agreements, employee handbooks, code of conduct, business cases, investment memos, and more.
What you’ll need
- Law degree and 3+ years of relevant experience as an employment lawyer or in-house legal counsel.
- English fluency required; fluency in other languages is a plus.
- Experience working with other countries in an international setting is an asset but not essential; a desire to expand international experience is necessary.
- Experience advising on works council matters, including engagement and processes, is essential.
- Eagerness to find innovative solutions that support key business goals and increase the employee experience while ensuring HR compliance.
- Independent, self-starter, highly responsive, and positive, with a service-oriented approach.
- Experience drafting and negotiating HR documents, and globally implementing HR-related policies and procedures.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, leaning into expertise and specialisms where required.
