About the role

In this role you will have the opportunity to lead and inspire the transformation journey for Manufacturing Operations of our Diagnostic Imaging businesses (MR, CT/AMI, DXR). You will drive and develop the manufacturing strategy and implement an integrated approach across the global sites in close alignment with the business and regions. As Head of Operations for Diagnostic Imaging, you are responsible for global manufacturing across 5 sites for Philips Diagnostic Imaging. This includes sites in United States, Germany, Israel, India and China.

The role ensures timely product delivery, high factory and supplier yields, and reduced failure rates to optimize operational efficiency. The role establishes and addresses supply chain risks, persistently refining processes for efficiency and cost reduction. The role develops the organization's manufacturing cost plans, manages expenses within approved budgets, optimizes equipment and workforce utilization, and leads talent management initiatives in alignment with operational goals.

Diagnostic Imaging (DI) – MR, CT/AMI, DXR

The Diagnostic Imaging Business Units – Magnetic Resonance (MR), Computed Tomography (CT/AMI) and Diagnostic x-Ray (DXR) - play an important role in advancing and improving patient care and outcomes through our differentiating range of products and solutions. Customers see us as a strategic partner to address some of their biggest challenges, from staff shortages and burnout to workflow, and ultimately delivering better care for their patients.

More specifically, the Head of Operations, Diagnostic Imaging will be responsible for…

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to a large multi-site manufacturing team, overseeing and coordinating diverse processes, assembly lines, and departments within the production plant, while also acting as a liaison with other functions across the organization.
  • Leads timely product delivery, achieves high factory and supplier yields, reduces product field failure rates, optimizes production processes concerning routing, supplies, and manpower levels to enhance operational efficiency and meets organizational objectives.
  • Champions the establishment and enforcement of rigorous safety protocols and procedures to cultivate a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards, and fostering employee well-being.
  • Authorizes comprehensive risk assessments and develops robust risk mitigation strategies to proactively address safety hazards and maintain a secure work environment, minimizing operational disruptions and ensuring employee safety.
  • Drives a culture of Operational Excellence by spearheading the development and implementation of innovative improvement initiatives aimed at streamlining processes, enhancing productivity, and optimizing operational efficiency.
  • Assumes ownership of developing and executing the manufacturing site's financial plans, including the Annual Operating Plan and multi-year manufacturing and investment plans, aligning them with organizational objectives and financial targets.
  • Oversees the management of expenditures and financial activities within approved budgets, while also leading strategic planning efforts and business continuity planning to ensure the long-term success of the manufacturing site.
  • Ensures adherence to stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements to uphold product integrity and customer satisfaction, continuously improving manufacturing processes to meet or exceed quality expectations.
  • Facilitates optimal resource utilization, including equipment and workforce, to effectively meet fluctuating demand patterns while maintaining operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Drives the adoption of advanced Operational Excellence tools and Lean Methodology to systematically identify and address complex operational challenges, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Leads comprehensive talent management initiatives, including succession planning, employee selection, performance management, compensation planning, and career development, aligning talent strategies with organizational goals and operational needs.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electro-mechanical, Industrial Engineering and Business or equivalent.
  • Minimum 11 years of experience with Bachelor's OR Minimum 9 years of experience with Master's in areas such as Industrial, Manufacturing, Production Engineering or equivalent.
  • International leadership experience in various aspects of Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and NPI in a highly regulated environment, ideally combined with experiences in a Manufacturing to order/engineering environment.
  • Experience with and proven track record in delivering performance and productivity improvements.
  • Experienced in establishing operations strategy, preferably at global/corporate level in a large multinational company
  • Experience and proven track record with complex global turnarounds
  • Experience in leading large international teams and leading global leaders. Track record in developing talent on global scale.
  • Inspiring leadership recognized as Role model
  • Has developed robust Health & Safety governance in industries and put Safety first in everything he/she does.
  • Profound experience in cross-functional influencing in a highly matrixed organization
  • Lean Leadership Training/Certification or equivalent.
