Job description
At Aquablu, we’re transforming drinking habits by replacing single-use plastics with innovative, sustainable hydration solutions. Are you ready to revolutionise the water industry with smarter, more innovative cooling systems? As our Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in developing next-gen cooling, carbonation, and dispensing systems.
“That might sound really ambitious, but our team is part of an inspiring movement in an industry that’s thirsty for change.”
Marc, Co-founder of Aquablu
What You’ll Be Doing
- Take ownership of designing and continuously improving cooling, carbonation, and dispensing systems, ensuring system reliability and efficiency.
- Help us continuously evolve to a stable, scalable mechanical engineering framework.
- Seamlessly incorporate thermal and cooling system designs into broader product development objectives.
- Define initial parameters, oversee iterative testing, and refine prototypes for optimal performance.
- Use in-field feedback and performance data to identify, research, and implement design improvements.
- Work closely with the wider engineering team to develop factory tests, tackle multidisciplinary challenges, and share your expertise.
- Apply a relevant level of project management, creating realistic timelines and delivering solutions that align with Aquablu’s mission.
- The water industry is notoriously old-fashioned—we’re here to change that. Be bold, experimental, and ready to challenge the status quo.
About You
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, with a proven ability to innovate and troubleshoot in complex, multidisciplinary environments.
- Solid, in-depth understanding of mechanical, fluid, and thermal systems, with practical experience in mechatronics and hydraulics.
- Able to zoom out and create scalable, future-proof solutions that anticipate challenges we haven’t faced yet.
- Skilled at prioritizing tasks and projects to ensure the team focuses on what matters most.
- Comfortable with mCAD software and working directly on system designs and prototypes.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a bonus for local manufacturer collaborations.
- Degree in mechanical engineering or similar degree with a strong theoretical background.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with HVAC or cooling system development.
- Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., CFD software) and testing methodologies.
- Background in both start-ups and structured organizations, with expertise in setting up engineering workflows.
