Role Description

Booking.com’s strategic vision for the “Connected Trip” is to create a truly seamless travel experience — one that integrates flights, attractions, car rentals, taxis, insurance and protection products, and more into a single, cohesive journey. While Booking.com has long been a global leader in accommodation, the focus is now on unifying all travel verticals to deliver a streamlined, end-to-end experience for customers.

The Insurance & Protection team plays a critical role in this vision. Its mission is to expand and enhance the product offering so travellers can enjoy complete peace of mind when booking any part of their trip.

As part of the Trips business unit, Insurance & Protection helps bridge the Booking.com of today with the Booking.com of tomorrow—driving the transformation from a single-product company to a multi-product ecosystem. At the heart of this evolution is a more personalised, effortless, and connected travel experience for every customer.

The Role

Booking.com is seeking insurance or financial services professionals to support the management of existing products and ongoing initiatives, as well as the launch of new and innovative insurance and protection products, with the overall goal of offering travellers complete peace of mind when booking any part of their trip.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development of new and existing insurance and protection products

  • Manage projects by working directly with tech, product, design, copywriting, data, operations, legal, compliance and finance teams to support the design and launch of new products
  • Take end-to-end ownership of complex initiatives with the ability to drive to a solution
  • Lead the review of the commercial and product performance of the products and propose future enhancements and iterations
  • Support the identification and alignment on key dependencies between Insurance & Protection and other departments
  • Work with third-party insurance carriers to develop new product offerings
  • Deliver output materials for business reviews, board updates, and weekly updates

Support the execution of the Insurance & Protection team’s strategic priorities

  • Conduct market and competitor analysis, feeding this into the market strategy and product design
  • Work with external advisors on the development of licensing and regulatory strategies, as well as new and ongoing compliance requirements
  • Serve as the ‘bridge’ between the insurance industry and the non-insurance Booking.com business

Support cross-functional initiatives

  • Support internal Booking.com projects that are key enablers for the Insurance & Protection team
  • Work hand-in-hand with other departments to deliver project outcomes
  • Track and report on project statuses and results to the Insurance management team

Skills & Experience

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience within the insurance or financial services industry
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, and understanding of risk management and compliance topics in this context
  • First class commercial problem solving, analysis and decision-making ability, with proven capability to take high levels of ownership and accountability and operate independently
  • Ability to take ownership; entrepreneurial, proactive, with a positive attitude; a self-starter
  • Project management fundamentals
  • Experience of working across multi-cultural geographies and executing global launches / roll outs
  • Ability to work across local jurisdictions and ability to pick up quickly on market practice
  • Experience in managing cross-functional stakeholders with a particular focus on non-insurance experts and complex matrix organisations
  • Confident, clear and concise communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in oral and written communications
  • Commercially minded, with experience of constructing and presenting business cases, supporting models, and financial projections
  • Ability to distill complex business issues and strategies to highlight insights and actionable recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner
