Client Service Risk Specialist - Strategy & Operations

Your impact

You will be part of McKinsey’s Client Service Risk (CSR) function, whose mission is to enable McKinsey’s client impact and innovation, while managing risks to our clients, our firm, and our people.

In the Technology Risk team, we are helping ensure positive and lasting impact from the Tech and AI revolution through pragmatic, expert and integrated technology risk capabilities. Our goal is to act as trusted thought-partners to the firm's leadership on technology and its risks, serving as innovative problem solvers. We offer deep expertise that is alive to emerging issues and trends, drawing on a strong network of relationships within and beyond the firm.

As a Strategy & Operations Specialist in Tech Risk you will directly support the Tech Risk Leadership team, reporting directly to the Leader, Technology Risk.

Core responsibilities

  • Support TR leaders as a thought partner to shape problem-solving, recommend solutions, and accelerate key priorities.
  • Align priorities across CSR leadership, Tech Risk leadership, and adjacent functions.
  • Define and maintain strategic and tactical priorities, including identification, tracking, and progress monitoring, and coordinate within CSR to communicate those priorities.
  • Translate strategic priorities into actionable work plans with clear ownership and timelines.
  • Conduct forward-looking, off-cycle shadow strategy work to anticipate emerging issues, risks, and organizational needs.
  • Convene and run regular team meetings and leadership committees, including agenda-setting, materials, facilitation, and follow-ups.
  • Support preparation for committees, executive meetings, and global leadership forums.
  • Coordinate team meetings, virtual and in-person, including agenda design, content synthesis, logistics, and follow-through.
  • Coordinate across CSR to ensure materials are shared across the function.
  • Attend and represent the Leader, when necessary, in intra- and inter-function meetings such as regional meetings.
  • Ensure decisions, actions, and commitments from leadership meetings are tracked and executed.
  • Establish and maintain decision ownership and decision hygiene, including clarifying decision rights and enforcing follow-through.
  • Develop and maintain a clear narrative on who the team is and what it does.
  • Drive internal communications cadence to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Coordinate external-facing messaging in collaboration with firm Reach and Engagement teams.
  • Prepare executive-quality materials for leadership and global forums.
  • Synthesize content for CSR leadership and Tech Risk qual packs.
  • Track transition timelines, key initiatives, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Drive consistency, data integrity, and excellence in reporting.
  • Coordinate delivery of strategic initiatives across teams.
  • Monitor risks, issues, and bottlenecks, proactively resolving bottlenecks.
  • Provide ad hoc operational and analytical support.
  • Collaborate on special projects with leadership.
  • Translate strategy into clear success metrics, OKRs, and performance signals.
  • Support cross-function people issues such as job descriptions, role clarity, and skills matrices.
  • Manage Tech Risk hiring, rotational roles, BC staffing, and headcount planning.
  • Submit and track role approvals.
  • Support onboarding processes.
  • Support evaluation, performance, and professional development processes.
  • Work with the CSR People Leadership team to develop and coordinate learning and development opportunities.
  • Review and approve external professional development requests.
  • Lead or support capability-focused committees and initiatives.
  • Prepare materials for key global and firm-wide meetings.
  • Manage logistics and execution for major meetings and events.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support across leadership teams.
  • Serve as liaison within CSR and across functions.
  • Create feedback loops and surface organizational improvement opportunities.
  • Act as an independent signal and truth-teller to leadership.
  • Ensure alignment between leadership intent and execution.

Your qualifications and skills

  • University degree is required.
