Senior Scientist – BTS (Process)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Scientist to join our Bio Technology Solutions (BTS) Vaccine Formulation team in Boxmeer. This team is focused on developing and transferring new vaccine formulations such as adjuvant formulations and stabilizers. Formulation Science is about product composition; in our case, excipients are screened to improve vaccine performance.

As a Senior Process Scientist, you will act as the project lead for one or more projects and project teams. The projects entail new product development, the improvement of existing products, and solving problems in the production of existing products, according to instructions and general guidelines, in a safe and GLP/GMP-compliant manner and using your own discretion and initiative.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting and managing expectations, performance goals, time commitments, resources, and risks in a manner that demonstrates measurable and achievable objectives.
• Initiating and maintaining up-to-date MS Project files and Connectivity updates, and following NPC and/or site-to-site transfer methodology when applicable.
• Discussing assignments with the project team(s).
• Designing and planning experiments based on general guidelines, instructions, and project timelines.
• Motivating a multidisciplinary team to work together towards a common goal and achieve cooperation within the team and among stakeholders.
• Being present and engaged in the operational area.
• Identifying deviations, assessing project impact, investigating root causes, and making proposals for improvements.
• Interpreting experimental results and deciding upon the path forward with the project team.
• Writing Statements and Assessments, Subject Protocols, Memos, Reports, and regulatory documents.
• Ensuring that operations are performed under GxP, including assistance with pilot and consistency batch productions, small-scale batches for animal studies, and seed productions.
• Making proposals for the introduction of new methods and techniques.
• Acting as a subject matter expert in one or more technical fields when needed.
• Keeping track of developments and techniques within the discipline.
• Using literature to support product and process development.

Qualifications

• Relevant BSc/MSc/PhD education and/or experience.
• Familiarity and expertise in laboratory operations.
• Knowledge of and experience with GxP guidelines and MPS methods.
• Knowledge of project management and transfer methodologies.
