Your role

As a Senior PostgreSQL DBA DevOps Engineer, you bring deep technical expertise and a proactive, solution oriented mindset. You will design, optimize, and maintain our PostgreSQL database landscape, and support development teams in delivering high quality, high performance applications. You combine hands-on database engineering with strategic thinking, helping us evolve our platform in a fast changing environment.

• Conduct complex performance analysis and query optimization
• Set up and manage replication, partitioning, and clustering
• Implement and improve backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
• Integrate PostgreSQL into CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, migrations, and validation
• Implement and improve monitoring, alerting, and observability for database workloads
• Build idempotent automation surrounding PostgreSQL like the delivery, second day operations or decommissioning process
• Create and maintain APIs that can be used for second day operations
• Act as a mentor for less experienced colleagues and help raise the maturity of the team

• Design, implement, and maintain robust PostgreSQL solutions for high availability, performance, and security
• Guide and advise teams on database best practices and architectural decisions
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and security teams to ensure compliance, resilience, and operational excellence

You will join the PostgreSQL Squad, part of the Database Platform within the Area Engineering Services. Our goal is to provide compliant, stable, and secure opensource relational database services as a fully managed standardized service.

Working in an Agile Scrum and DevOps setup, we take end-to-end ownership of our platform. As a team, we combine our unique set of expertise and collaborative mindset to deliver secure, reliable, and high performance PostgreSQL solutions, enabling Rabobank’s global consumers to innovate and grow.

You & Your Talent

You are curious, analytical, and committed to high standards. You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy translating complex technical topics into clear, actionable insights.

You bring:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in large enterprise environments
• Deep knowledge of core PostgreSQL features: indexing, query tuning, data modeling, replication, partitioning, and high availability architectures
• Strong SQL expertise, including advanced SQL constructs and query analysis
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible; containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes is a pre
• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing code based infrastructure
• Experience with on-premise based PostgreSQL (psql, barman, PEM, replication)
• Experience with cloud based PostgreSQL (AWS RDS and Azure PostgreSQL)
• Strong understanding of database security, authentication, auditing, and encryption
• Experience with monitoring and observability (OBM, PEM, hand made scripts)
• A collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
