At a glance

To strengthen our Future Fit Workforce, we are looking for a Network Security Engineer in our Network & Data Center. In this position you will play a key role in safeguarding our network platforms, enforcing consistent security policies, and integrating leading security technologies into a centralized and automated security landscape.

Your job

As a Network Security Engineer, you will work within NW&DC Engineering teams that design, maintain and secure our enterprise network platforms. You add value by deploying your deep security expertise and strong experience in technologies such as F5, Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, Tufin or comparable enterprise-grade security platforms. You help shape a future where security policies are orchestrated centrally, consistently enforced across hybrid environments, and tightly integrated with automated pipelines and compliance controls. We work in an Agile environment with a strong focus on continuous improvement, reliability, standardization and secure-by-design principles.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain network security solutions across datacenter and cloud environments.
  • Implement and manage firewalls, proxies, load balancers and secure access platforms (one or any of the F5 / Check Point / Palo Alto / Zscaler technologies).
  • Develop and enforce centralized security policies, ensuring consistency across all network domains.
  • Integrate network security controls with cloud, on-prem and platform services.
  • Implement security orchestration and automation to ensure repeatability, standardization and rapid deployment.
  • Develop and enhance security rule sets, segmentation models and traffic governance frameworks.
  • Troubleshoot complex security issues with a root-cause-first mindset.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, CISO NSS and DevOps teams to accelerate security roadmaps.
  • Contribute to the automation of testing, validation, and policy compliance within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Continue to grow toward a T-shaped engineer with a focus on network security, cloud integration and secure platform engineering.

Working environment

The Networks & Datacenter (NW&DC) Engineering department is part of Platform & Technology (P&T) within ABN AMRO. P&T delivers a standardized, secure and always-on IT landscape that supports thousands of applications and DevOps teams.

Within NW&DC Engineering, we are responsible for end-to-end network security across datacenters, cloud platforms, office locations and remote environments. Security, resilience, compliance and centralized policy orchestration form the core of what we do.

Your profile

You are a strong network security engineer with deep knowledge of enterprise security technologies and a drive to embed security as a default. You believe in consistency, policy-driven design and standardized enforcement. You describe yourself as someone with a proactive, analytical and collaborative attitude with a strong sense of ownership. Furthermore you recognize yourself in the following hard skills:

  • Hands-on experience with F5, Check Point, Palo Alto Networks, Zscaler, or similar enterprise security platforms.
  • Experience operating and securing large-scale hybrid network environments.
  • Knowledge of policy enforcement, security governance and centralized configuration management.
  • Understanding of automation principles and scripting (Python, Ansible, Git, YAML) to operationalize security controls.
  • Solid networking knowledge at CCNA/CCNP level or higher (routing, switching, firewalling, segmentation).
  • Advanced vendor certifications (like CCNP Security / CCIE Security, PCNSE, Check Point CCSM, F5 certifications, Zscaler).
  • Experience with SOC/SIEM integrations, security monitoring and dashboards (Elastic, Grafana).
  • Experience with Infrastructure/Network-as-Code and automated security deployments.
