Job description

Tony’s Chocolonely is committed to ending exploitation in cocoa. We are an impact company that makes chocolate, not the other way around. With incredibly tasty chocolate, we lead by example, demonstrating that ethical practices and success can go hand in hand. Through Tony's Open Chain (TOC), mission allies like Albert Heijn, Ben & Jerry's, Jokolade, and Aldi have embraced a fairer, more transparent supply chain for their chocolate.

We are looking for a Sustainability intern to join the team in Amsterdam. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on sustainability experience in a growing impact company while making a positive impact in the world of cocoa. During this internship, you will contribute to a hands-on period in which impact measurements are accounted for. Together with the team, you will collect the data and prepare it for the annual PwC audit starting in October.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • Sustainability reporting. Get hands-on experience collecting, validating and shaping sustainability data and narratives for Tony’s annual reporting cycle and audit.
  • Impact measurement. Learn how we track our progress against Tony’s impact model — from KPIs to long-term change objectives.
  • Project management. Build skills in coordinating tasks, managing workflows and structuring projects in a fast-paced team.
  • Stakeholder engagement. Work closely with internal partners (operations, finance, teams across Tony’s) and external auditors to understand how sustainability comes together in practice.
  • Sustainability strategy. See how sustainability goals and commitments are translated into operational decisions and everyday work.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Support Tony’s annual sustainability reporting cycle. Collect data and evidence, organize documentation and help bring structure to the audit preparation process, run quality checks and contribute to narratives in support of Tony’s annual sustainability reporting cycle.
  • Support our road towards B Corp recertification. Help write new policies, align teams and processes, support implementation of B Corp requirements throughout the organisation and help ensure all Tony's are up to date before submission for recertification in January 2027.
  • Work on sustainability dashboards & KPI tracking. Keep internal insights up to date and actionable.
  • Conduct research on sustainability trends. Research emerging standards, regulatory frameworks, benchmarks and best practices relevant to Tony’s impact model.
  • Contribute to ongoing sustainability projects. Depending on your profile and team priorities, such as due diligence, emissions and climate topics, human rights, and supply chain sustainability.
  • Improve internal processes. Help refine templates, tools and systems that make reporting stronger every year.

Job requirements

  • You're currently studying Sustainability, Sustainable Business/Development, Environmental Sciences, International Development or a related field (Bachelor or Master level).
  • Raise the bar. Challenge yourself and team Tony’s to increase our ambition and to accomplish our mission. Make mistakes along the way and learn from them.
  • Believe wholeheartedly in Tony’s mission. You live our core values: outspoken, In it together, Makes you smile, Entrepreneurial and Raise the bar.

What you can expect from us:

  • You'll be part of an enthusiastic team of driven colleagues who share your love for Tony's and our commitment.
  • As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to directly contribute to the success of Tony's Chocolonely. You'll be challenged to raise the bar and make a real impact in the world.
  • Our office in Amsterdam Houthavens is a sweet workplace — you'll enjoy a fresh and tasty lunch, plenty of snacks, and of course, you get to take home as much chocolate as you can carry.

Tony’s Chocolonely wants to make all chocolate 100% slave free. Not just our chocolate, but all chocolate worldwide. Not exactly the average company, right? Instead a chocolate company whose primary goal is to resolve a social issue in the world.
