Demo Specialist

This role is responsible for the management, coordination, and execution of demo commercial vehicles operations, primarily focusing on demo bus fleet management and mandatory battery registration processes. This role supports Sales, Logistics, After-Sales, Finance, and external partners to ensure demo activities are legally compliant, operationally efficient, and well documented.

About the role

The Demo Specialist (demo fleet management) is responsible for the management, coordination, and execution of demo commercial vehicles operations, primarily focusing on demo bus fleet management and mandatory battery registration processes. This role supports Sales, Logistics, After-Sales, Finance, and external partners to ensure demo activities are legally compliant, operationally efficient, and well documented.

BYD Europe Bus + Truck director.

Key responsibilities

1. Demo Fleet Management for Bus & Truck

• Plan and coordinate demo bus and charging schedules according to sales demonstrations, customer tests, and tender requirements
• Maintain the Demo Fleet Management System, including:

• Vehicle technical certificates
• Compliance schedules
• Registration and insurance documents
• Transport and legal documentation

• Track demo bus and charger locations, condition, and operational status across different markets
• Collect and manage demo-related technical documents and test information from:

• Product Management
• R&D
• After-Sales teams

2. Legal, Registration & Compliance

• Investigate and manage European bus registration and insurance policies
• Coordinate vehicle registration, insurance, and certification for demo buses
• Arrange and manage legal documentation between BYD and customers for demo testing
• Follow up on certifications and support internal approvals for new demo buses

3. Logistics & Damage Management

• Coordinate with the Logistics team on demo bus and charger transportation
• Track demo bus condition before and after transport or customer testing
• Handle follow-up on damage claims and cost recovery

4. Maintenance & Technical Support

• Organize regular and mandatory demo bus maintenance and inspections with service providers
• Coordinate PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) with Product Management and After-Sales for new demo vehicles
• Support charger allocation and dedication for demo vehicles
• Collect and archive testing reports and technical feedback

5. Financial & Administrative Support

• Process demo-related invoices and coordinate with Finance for:

• Invoice identification
• Dispatching and approvals

• Maintain accurate payment records and provide quarterly summaries
• Support administrative communication with suppliers and service providers

6. Battery Registration & Project Support

• Manage mandatory battery registration processes in compliance with European regulations
• Act as the key contact point between Sales, Finance, and external partners
• Follow up demo prototypes and support new model or project launches

Requirements & competencies

• Minimum 2-3 year of relevant experience in, 5 years will be the best:

1. Sales support
2. Demo operations
3. Project coordination
4. Administrative or executive roles

• Experience in automotive, commercial vehicles, or EV industry is a strong advantage
• Strong organizational and coordination skills
• Excellent communication skills, both internal and external
• Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline
• Proactive problem-solver with the ability to propose practical solutions
• Comfortable working in a cross-functional, international environment
• Fluent in English (mandatory), know Chinese will be better
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with fleet management or ERP systems is a plus
