About this role

Mixpanel is seeking a data-driven and strategic Senior Analytics Engineer to join our growing Analytics team. This role is essential to scaling our analytics capabilities across GTM, Post-Sales, and Product functions. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including software engineers, data scientists, product leaders, and go-to-market teams to build scalable data infrastructure and deliver high-quality, trustworthy datasets that power impactful decision-making.

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll lead initiatives to clean and own product utilization pipelines, enhance customer data platform (CDP) infrastructure, and reduce operational friction across teams by enabling self-serve analytics. This is a high-impact role with the opportunity to shape Mixpanel’s analytics function over the next several quarters and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Data Infrastructure Ownership: Lead the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines that power GTM attribution, account health, ROI, and product usage analytics.
  • Enable Self-Serve Analytics: Collaborate with stakeholders to produce clean, structured datasets that simplify access and analysis for GTM and Product teams.
  • CDP Development & Trust: Augment and improve our customer data platform (CDP), ensuring data accuracy and completeness for downstream consumers.
  • Cross-Functional Partnering: Translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into data models and dashboards that support strategic business decisions.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Establish trust in data through testing, validation, documentation, and quality monitoring.
  • Strategic Projects: Drive medium- to long-term roadmap initiatives that reduce data science dependency and improve product metric reliability.

We're looking for someone who has

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar roles.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt (DBT Core + Github Actions) for modern data transformation and modeling workflows.
  • Expertise in SQL, including writing efficient and complex queries for large-scale data transformation and modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python for data transformation, automation, and workflow orchestration.
  • Experience with collaborative software development practices including version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience in ETL/ELT pipeline development and data modeling (e.g., star/snowflake schemas).
  • Familiarity with data warehousing platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environments.
  • Comfort navigating stakeholder priorities in a high-growth startup environment.

Bonus points for

  • Familiarity with product analytics and user behavior metrics.
  • Experience with using and/or implementing Mixpanel.
  • Exposure to data ingestion tools like Fivetran, Airbyte, etc.
  • Experience building or maintaining CDPs or event-driven pipelines.
  • Prior work supporting GTM, sales, or customer success teams with analytics.
  • A passion for multiplying the impact of data science by reducing overhead and increasing data accessibility.
  • Outstanding technical writing skills.
