Senior Data Analyst

As a Data Analyst at Guerrilla, you will turn player and gameplay data into actionable insights that support data-informed decision-making across development teams. Working closely with designers, producers, engineers, and user research, you will investigate player behaviour, contribute to analytical approaches, and communicate insights that support game development.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support analytics for one or more gameplay domains (e.g., progression, combat systems, economy, player onboarding), working with stakeholders to define goals, measurement approaches, and analysis plans.
  • Conduct analyses that uncover player behaviour patterns, design risks, and opportunities to improve engagement and player experience.
  • Partner with cross-disciplinary stakeholders (design, production, engineering, user research, publishing) to shape analysis from question framing through delivery and follow-up.
  • Help define success metrics by translating project goals into KPIs, standard metrics, and measurement approaches that are practical for development teams.
  • Contribute to the design and validation of gameplay telemetry and event taxonomy to ensure analytics can effectively measure player behaviour and game systems.
  • Ensure data quality and trust by monitoring data completeness, consistency, and reliability, and clearly communicating limitations when they exist.
  • Translate analyses into clear insights and recommendations that support design, production, and product decisions.
  • Support experimentation and measurement efforts for gameplay features, helping teams evaluate feature performance and player impact.

Candidates hired at the Senior level will also be expected to:

  • Own analytics initiatives for key gameplay domains and drive analytical investigations that influence development decisions.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for analysis and shape analytical roadmaps with cross-disciplinary stakeholders.
  • Lead the design and evolution of gameplay telemetry and event taxonomy.
  • Guide experimentation and measurement strategies for gameplay features.
  • Mentor and support other analysts, contributing to strong analytical practices across the team.

Who You Are

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver analytical insights that support decision-making.
  • Advanced SQL skills with a strong track record of working with large behavioural datasets (e.g., event streams / telemetry).
  • Strong analytical ability and quantitative reasoning (e.g., distributions, correlations, cohort analysis).
  • Experience working with stakeholders to turn ambiguous questions into well-scoped analysis and actionable insights.
  • A strong understanding of games and player behaviour.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with gameplay telemetry or instrumentation in complex products.
  • Experience with Python (and Jupyter notebooks) or applied ML techniques used pragmatically to solve product or game questions.

Plusses:

  • Curiosity and a habit of exploring new analytical methods or tools when appropriate.
  • Experience with A/B testing or experimental design.
  • Familiarity with version control workflows (e.g., Git) and reproducible analysis practices.
