Development Specialist (Sensory & Sensometrics)

At FrieslandCampina, we are looking for a Sensory & Sensometrics Specialist to accelerate product innovation and renovation through advanced sensory science and data analytics. Based at our Development Centre in Wageningen, you will design and analyze sensory studies often in collaboration with colleagues from consumer research department. Your insights will guide our R&D teams with clear, actionable recommendations. Can you translate multidimensional sensory data into sharp, meaningful direction for product development?

As a Development Specialist (Sensory & Sensometrics), you will apply robust experimental designs and multivariate statistical modelling to define product performance. You will identify sensory drivers of quality, ensure sensory robustness, and integrate data from multiple sources to support new product development and renovation projects. You contribute to further strengthening the department by enhancing our statistical analysis capabilities and improving efficiency in workflows and tools.

Ce que nous demandons

  • Master’s degree in Food Science, Sensory Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in sensory and/or sensometrics, preferably within the (dairy) food industry.
  • You have strong sensometric and statistical analysis skills, including solid working knowledge of R.
  • Skilled in translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • You act with speed and decisiveness and take ownership to deliver high‑quality results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. A proactive professional who takes ownership and shows strong initiative.
  • A team player with qualities such as social, goal‑oriented, accurate, customer‑focused, creative, proactive, and pragmatic.

As a Development Specialist (Sensory & Sensometrics), you will play a central role in our innovation process. You will collaborate closely with R&D teams to ensure our products deliver outstanding sensory performance, using advanced sensory science and multivariate data analytics to guide development and renovation.

Conduct Advanced Sensory Research

  • Design and execute sensory studies.
  • Analyze (complex) datasets with statistical methods to guide product development and optimization.

Integrate Multisource Data

  • Combine sensory results with physical-, chemical-, analytical-, recipe-, and where relevant consumer data to build a holistic understanding of product performance.
  • Work closely with the Sensory & Panel Team to ensure high‑quality data generation.

Strengthen Product Benchmarking

Apply advanced analytics to elevate our taste and performance benchmarking. Identify sensory drivers, map product signatures, and ensure our products consistently meet or exceed internal and external standards.

Within this team, the Sensory & Customer Team, in close collaboration with the Sensory & Panel Team, guards the product experience as one of the key elements for winning in our markets.
