In this role as a Ruby Developer in the Tech/Infra team within Nedap in Healthcare, you work on the technical backbone of our logistics solutions. Within this environment, we build applications that help healthcare organizations deliver the right care at the right time. Together with multiple product teams, you ensure that our software is not only functionally strong, but also scalable, reliable and future-proof.

Our solutions support healthcare organizations in solving complex planning and logistical challenges. Behind these solutions runs a robust technical infrastructure. In this team, you focus on improving our Ruby on Rails architecture, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure and overall developer experience.

You combine software development with DevOps practices. You optimize performance, improve reliability and automate wherever possible. In doing so, you enable our teams to deliver value faster and more safely to healthcare professionals.

What are you going to do?

Your responsibilities

  • Develop, refactor and maintain Ruby on Rails applications with a strong focus on scalability and performance.
  • Improve the technical architecture and contribute to strategic technical decisions.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and work on containerization and orchestration.
  • Monitor applications and improve logging, metrics and tracing.
  • Increase the stability, security and reliability of our applications.
  • Promote test automation, code quality and engineering best practices.
  • Actively contribute to knowledge sharing and coach colleagues in Ruby and DevOps.
  • Continuously improve the developer experience and deployment processes.

Your team

The Tech/Infra team works closely with our product teams. While product teams focus on delivering functionality and customer value, the Tech/Infra team provides a stable, secure and scalable technical foundation.

As a Ruby Developer you will collaborate with experienced developers and engineers working on areas such as our Ruby on Rails backend, Kotlin microservices, cloud and container infrastructure, and CI/CD and deployment automation.

What's in it for you?

As a Ruby Developer at Nedap, you’ll make a valuable contribution to our mission: making people happier and more successful in their professional lives. In addition to your salary, you’ll receive a thirteenth month, a solid pension plan, and a profit-sharing scheme with the possibility to become a Nedap shareholder.

Everything here revolves around trust and autonomy. That’s why, along with your colleagues, you decide on your own working hours and vacation days to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We also highly value personal and professional growth. You’ll receive a thorough onboarding, and we encourage you to keep developing yourself.

Required skills

As a Ruby Developer you are comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and enjoy continuously developing your skills. You work carefully, are involved in your work and enjoy innovating together with colleagues to find the best solutions.

We work in a hybrid setup: typically we meet at the office one day a week, while the remaining days you can work from home or from the office. The team combines strong technical expertise with humor, autonomy and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.

You also bring:

  • Software development: 5+ years of experience in back-end or full-stack software development.
  • Ruby expertise: At least 3+ years of experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
  • DevOps mindset: Experience with DevOps principles and infrastructure.
  • Containerization & CI/CD: Experience with Docker and CI/CD tooling.
  • Nomad experience: Experience with Nomad is a plus.
  • Observability: Experience with monitoring, logging and performance optimization.
  • Agile development: Familiarity with agile software development (TDD, BDD, continuous delivery).
  • System architecture: A clear vision on building structured, scalable and maintainable systems.
  • Coaching and knowledge sharing: The ability to coach colleagues and actively share knowledge.
  • English proficiency: Excellent spoken and written English; Dutch is a plus.
  • On-call availability: Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation during office hours.
