Do you want to develop yourself within your field of expertise and as a crucial team member within our projects? Then we might have the perfect challenge for you. You will be part of the engineering team within the PMG Standard Modular Dredging Vessels and be the expert in the field of Naval Basic engineering. Work on projects with your direct colleagues in the field of mechanical, hydraulic, piping and electrical engineering as well as mission equipment specialists.

The engineering team consists of a balanced mix of young professionals and colleagues with lots of experience. The team members describe the collegiality and willingness to help each other as a big plus. The interesting part of working for the PMG Standard Modular Vessels is that you develop all-round and broad knowledge of the complete product. You will get to know all the systems on the dredger, from the cutter to the spud hoisting installation.

The role:

In this position, you will act as the Discipline Coordinator for the Basic Engineering Naval as well as participate in the Basic Engineering work. You will lead the discipline and oversee all the work coming from various ongoing projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and compliance with the technical specification and applicable regulations. You will also deliver input for the basin trials, manuals and report progress for the planning.

At the same time, you will contribute directly to the design and engineering of hull constructions for our product portfolio, including Beavers and other dredging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the Naval basic engineering discipline within the various projects.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of Naval basic engineers, reviewing their deliverables.
  • Manage tasks, schedules, and quality standards for the engineering activities within the discipline. This includes outsourced engineering activities.
  • Execute basic engineering tasks, including construction calculations, weight and stability checks, arrangements and technical documentation.
  • Managing the classification process and ensuring compliance with the applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Design & Estimation, Project management, Procurement, Suppliers, Production and Services.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle (design, engineering, production, commissioning, and service).
  • Dividing your time between various projects such as development of new products that add value to our product portfolio and projects to make our operations more efficient.

Your profile:

  • A bachelor’s degree in or similar to Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in basic engineering.
  • Proven knowledge of construction calculations.
  • Strong leadership skills in combination with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding classification rules (preferred).
  • Familiarity with CAD applications and ability to learn quickly.

Royal IHC offers you:

  • A salary between €4246 and €6469 gross per month, plus 8% holiday allowance.
  • Plenty of time off: 40 vacation days for a full-time position, with the option to buy or sell additional leave.
  • A profit-sharing scheme that lets you share in Royal IHC’s success.
  • Flexible working: A home office allowance of €2.45 per day + a one-time payment of €750 to set up your workspace.
  • Travel allowance of €0.21 per kilometer for the days you commute to the office.
  • A solid pension plan through PME.
  • Room to grow: Numerous internal career opportunities and a training budget + access to our IHC Academy to support your development.
  • Health and energy: Unlimited access to our in-house gym (in exchange for the sustainable employability day).
  • Royal IHC takes care of things you’d rather not worry about, but that are still important—such as disability insurance, partner pension, and the option to have additional healthcare costs reimbursed through our Social Fund.
