Supplier Quality Engineer

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you are responsible for translating our quality requirements to our suppliers. You are also involved in setting up and monitoring quality inspections of incoming products.

If unexpected quality issues arise, you take the right actions to resolve them as quickly as possible—both short‑term and structurally. By performing analyses, for example using the 8D methodology, you identify the root cause. You discuss this with the supplier and ensure that processes are adjusted to prevent recurrence.

Root cause analyses are often carried out within an improvement team that you lead.

Your daily responsibilities include

In this role, you work closely with various departments, such as Procurement, Production, and Planning. You also have frequent contact with other Quality Engineers (Customer Quality and Manufacturing Quality) as well as Process and Test Engineers.

You report directly to the Manager Quality | Environment | Safety | Health.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Initiating and guiding quality improvements at suppliers.
  • Managing and resolving supplier‑related issues from operations.
  • Preparing and conducting (process) audits at suppliers and internal audits, including reporting and follow‑up.
  • Supporting the New Product Introduction (NPI) project team by translating customer requirements into specifications and requirements for suppliers.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring the correct quality levels.
  • Supporting or performing incoming goods inspections and initiating preventive actions.
  • Preparing monthly KPI reports, analysing trends, and proposing improvements.
  • Supporting the broader quality department in various Quality Engineering activities, contributing to Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, Customer Quality, and general Quality Engineering tasks across the organisation.

Additionally, you bring:

  • A completed technical bachelor’s degree, for example in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a comparable role, preferably in a high‑tech production environment (e.g., automotive)
  • Strong communication skills and a hands‑on, quality‑focused mindset
  • An initiative‑driven, proactive, critical, and solution‑oriented attitude
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of management systems such as ISO 14001 and/or IATF 16949; experience with PPAP and FMEA is an advantage
