As a senior HSE advisor, you will work with the rest of the team to implement and maintain HSE policy and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. This involves both helping to determine policy and performing executive tasks. We are currently looking for someone who can be deployed in multiple areas, but who specializes in providing support for chemical issues. In this role, you will be dealing with many different stakeholders, so it is important that you act with independent judgment, an independent attitude, and in compliance with the relevant HSE laws and regulations, standards, and policy rules.

What are you going to do?

As a senior HSE Advisor, you will be part of the QHSE team, with a preferred specialism in chemistry. You will play a role in implementing and improving HSE policy and addressing issues within Demcon, both in an executive and coordinating capacity. During your work, you will collaborate closely with other team members, the managing director, and employees of the various Demcon entities, particularly those in the chemical field. You may be assigned to any Demcon location, but you will primarily work for the Enschede branches.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting the assessment of the safety of processes and projects within Demcon entities, particularly the chemical division.
• Advising colleagues on specific HSE questions/issues.
• Carry out and support necessary processes related to HSE, such as RI&E, hazardous substances, HAZOP, exposure studies, and permit applications.
• Write and improve procedures, work instructions, and rules within the existing management system and HSE policy.
• Implement and execute HSE policy and create support for it within Demcon.
• Taking action and/or measures necessary for the safety of Demcon employees.
• Identifying, reporting, and investigating (near) accidents/incidents and hazardous situations and monitoring improvement actions.
• Assisting in conducting internal audits and checks.

What do you bring to the table?

• A completed relevant university degree or equivalent level of thinking, preferably a chemical degree such as chemical engineering or chemical technology or higher safety science
• At least 5 years of work experience in the field of HSE, preferably in the chemical industry
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety and environmental legislation and regulations
• Knowledge of and/or experience with quality systems (in particular ISO 45001, 9001)
• Good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written

In addition, you have a flexible attitude, self-learning ability, and analytical skills, and you are communicative, motivate others, and have a certain degree of authority. You also do not hesitate to take action when the situation requires it. You are independent and can deal with different levels within an organization.
