We’re looking for a part-time People Advisor (HR Advisor) to act as the in-country People contact for our Netherlands colleagues.

Based on-site in Almere, this is a part time role, 3 days per week. You’ll provide practical, solutions-focused advice across employee relations and core people matters, ensuring our approach is fair, compliant and aligned with Dutch employment law.

Working closely with our Junior People Partner and the wider UK People team, you’ll play a key role in embedding consistent Group practices while making sure local needs are understood and represented. With a high level of autonomy, you’ll help create a supportive and engaging workplace where managers feel confident taking ownership of their teams with expert guidance from People when it matters most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the go-to advisor for Netherlands-based employees and their managers (UK and NL) on employee relations matters including performance, absence, conflict resolution and workplace policies
  • Lead and support formal processes such as disciplinary, grievance and capability cases, ensuring fairness, transparency and compliance
  • Apply strong knowledge of Dutch labour law in a practical way, advising on updates to Group policies and practices where required
  • Equip and coach managers to confidently lead people processes, supporting ownership of performance, absence and conflict matters
  • Partner closely with the Junior People Partner and wider People team to deliver functional and Netherlands-wide People Plans
  • Support People Partnering projects aligned to broader Group strategy, ensuring successful local implementation
  • Act as a local representative of the People Partnering model, guiding employees and managers to the right teams for payroll and administrative queries
  • Ensure Dutch statutory systems (e.g. UWV, Medprevent and related portals) are kept up to date and compliant with local regulations
  • Champion efficient ways of working, creating clarity and smooth communication between local colleagues and the wider People team
  • Contribute positively to engagement and culture within the wider People Team

About You

  • Strong knowledge of Dutch employment law, with proven experience applying it in employee relations and HR advisory contexts
  • Previous experience in a People Advisor / HR Advisor or employee relations–focused role
  • Fluency in Dutch and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex ER cases including performance, absence, grievance and disciplinary matters
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into clear, business-focused solutions
  • Confidence working in a standalone in-country capacity while collaborating effectively within an international People team
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, building credibility at all levels
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills, able to manage multiple stakeholders and cases simultaneously
  • Experience within a multinational or matrix organisation (nice to have)
