Project Manager Transmission & Distribution (Energy Transition)

Role Description:

As a (Senior) Project Manager within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team, you will lead network expansion and reinforcement projects for T&D companies in the Netherlands and internationally. Your role combines technical expertise with strong project management skills to accelerate client projects from initiation through delivery. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations, while proactively managing risks and exploring innovative solutions. In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle, helping deliver sustainable solutions. Role Responsibilities:

• Serve as primary liaison between clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Define, contribute to, and deliver T&D projects according to specifications and best practices.
• Challenge and propose alternative solutions to enhance project outcomes beyond standard approaches.
• Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks to mitigate negative impacts on projects.
• Negotiate and manage scope changes, extra work, and potential claims.
• Ensure accurate planning, control, and reporting for all internal and external project activities.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinating across engineering, procurement, construction, and stakeholders.
• Communicate complex technical and commercial issues clearly to peers, senior management, and clients.
• Prepare clear and concise offers, technical documentation, and reports.

You will join the Energy Transition Business Unit, specifically the Transmission & Distribution team, which drives sustainable energy network developments. Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering (BSc, MSc, PhD) or equivalent T&D expertise.
• Proven experience as a Project Manager or Lead Engineer in substation and/or plant projects aligned with international/industry standards.
• Strong knowledge of HV substation primary, control & protection, or secondary equipment design, including feasibility studies, reporting, programming, and cost estimating.
• Broad understanding of Transmission & Distribution technologies, standards, methodologies, and technical software tools.
• Demonstrated success managing engineering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Solid project management skills including contract, claim, and risk management.
• Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including equipment suppliers and service providers.
• Communication skills for technical and commercial content aimed at diverse audiences.
• Experience producing clear offers, technical documentation, and reports.

Preferred / Nice to have:

• Experience working with European Transmission System Operators (TSO) or Distribution System Operators (DSO).
• Dutch language proficiency or willingness to learn.
• Candidates with strong technology or infrastructure project experience but without direct T&D background are encouraged to apply.
