About this role

As our Absence Management Specialist, you will care for our people by supporting employees and managers through sick leave situations in the Netherlands. Joining our Employee Relations team, you will lead by providing expert advice on Dutch employment law while ensuring a smooth return-to-work process. We are looking for a teammate who can simplify complex cases and collaborate across HR to deliver a supportive, compliant environment.

These are some of the key components to the position:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for absence matters, providing expert guidance to employees and managers.

  • Manage absence cases end-to-end, ensuring full compliance with Dutch law and the Wet verbetering poortwachter.

  • Drive the reintegration process by developing effective return-to-work plans and monitoring recovery.

  • Collaborate with internal HR teams and external partners like the company doctor, Occupational Health provider, and UWV.

  • Maintain accurate case files within HR systems such as Workday and Verzuimsignaal.

  • Analyze absence data to identify trends and contribute to proactive management strategies.

  • Update absence policies to ensure they stay aligned with legal requirements and best practices.

  • Deliver training and resources that empower managers to handle absence effectively within their teams.

Aim high to improve our processes, using data and feedback to drive excellence in employee support.

What will you bring to the team?

  • Proven experience in absence management with a focus on driving excellence in case resolution.

  • Strong knowledge of Dutch social security laws, including Ziektewet and Wet verbetering poortwachter.

  • Professional certification such as ROZ, CROV, RCCM, or a relevant degree in Human Resources.

  • Ability to act responsibly while interacting with medical professionals and external stakeholders.

  • A customer-centric approach when supporting employees through sensitive sick leave situations.

  • Commitment to achieving goals and managing a high volume of cases with meticulous record-keeping.

  • Fluency in Dutch (written and verbal) is essential to navigate local regulations and communications.

  • Proficiency in English to collaborate effectively within our international environment.

  • Experience using HR systems like Workday, Verzuimsignaal, or JIRA to maintain data integrity and clarity.

  • A collaborative mindset, always looking to lift each other up and share feedback within the HR team.
