Free Loops was founded by Lars Berg (1985) and Jorrit Schaap (1987), who have been working together under the name LARSPLUSGOVO for almost 10 years now. Mostly focused on live VJ performances, they featured at parties and events ranging from the Paris Fashion Week to Sensation Black and special celebrations at the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

After attending the Sziget festival in Hungary, they decided to launch Free Loops to create an online library where VJs can find high quality loopable videos for an affordable price. This way, as they believe, more VJs around the world can create better shows and focus on their art.
From their Amsterdam office in an old church in the city centre, they now focus mainly on producing great content and finding ways to keep offering it for a very competitive price.
In order to give the talent they see all around them a platform, they occasionally work together with young and upcoming VJs and visual artists, resulting in great loop packages such as the “Get M’”, “El Rayo”, “HUD” and “Magic retro shapes” packs.
Famous Dutch TV show “De Wereld Draait Door” already uses our loops as background videos
Answering the question why they offer their high quality content at such a low price, their answer is simple: “We live in an age where transferring bits and bytes has become increasingly affordable. We work together with young artists who are more interested in a great audience than in making a lot of money.”
Lars and Jorrit still occasionally perform as VJs at live events, but rather work on producing more exciting content and finding new ways to bring this content to visual artists around the world.
In regard to their target audience, Jorrit says: “We actually notice that not only VJs use our website. We also have directors, DJs, bands, producers and churches using our loops. We want to expand our library to better serve this diverse audience.” Lars adds: “We create videos that can be used for anything, not just VJ shows. For example, our footage of cities around the world could well be used for TV shows. And one of the most famous Dutch TV shows “De Wereld Draait Door” already uses our loops as background videos for bands performing live during the show.”
In five years time, Free Loops will be bigger, better and more diverse than ever
With regard to the future, both men know one thing for sure: “In five years time, Free Loops will be bigger, better and more diverse than ever. And we will be there creating awesome content for anyone around the world with internet access and an interest in video.”
