You will research and develop a deep understanding of the market dynamics, customer needs, technology trends, product legislation and competitor offerings. You will be a core member of the Product Management team and assist with our growth into new Smart Cities applications and capabilities, helping to develop new products and contribute to the management of the existing applications.

You will help identify new product opportunities, assist in the front-end analysis for new offers and releases coordinating the Systems Architect contributions, prepare the business justification with effort estimates, proposed phasing and priorities for executive commitment decisions.

You will be completing your degree in a business or marketing related subject.

GRADUATE SOFTWARE ENGINEER – SW009&10
If you are interested in a career in development and are completing a degree in a numerate/computer science related subject, we may have just the graduate role for you. At Telensa we write software at all levels, ranging from embedded (C, ARM) through network layers (wireless protocol implementation, messaging and connection management), to business logic (database applications and integration with other systems such as asset management and billing) up to user interfaces on web and mobile.

We are always interested in Graduates at the start of their career and will work with you in the early months to explore all the different types of development in the company to find a niche that suits you best. The successful applicant can expect to get experience in areas such as:

Working on tools such as our test harnesses which simulates large scale networks and enable us to test new builds of our communications stacks. This includes work on small devices such as the Raspberry Pi and likely to include work with scripting languages such as Python. You will also work on “middle layer” parts of our Central System, using technologies such as Java and relational or noSQL database technologies, and developing Microservices and RESTful APIs. This includes working as part of an Agile scrum team.

There will also be day to day involvement in one or more software teams to help with development and testing of software features in active development.

You will be a second-year student on an approved degree to take a year out in industry, in a relevant subject (numerate, computing based, scientific). It would be ideal if you had some background in programming using languages such as Python, Java, C, C++ and be able to demonstrate involvement in project work, ideally as part of a team, and showing team working.
