Eversheds Sutherland is one of the world’s largest full-service law firms operating as one team, across Europe, the US, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Recognised as the leading innovators in the legal sector, we provide new legal and business solutions to meet the needs of our clients. Eversheds Sutherland is about consistently delivering great service whenever our clients need it.
Our people share a distinctive culture which has deep client relationships at its core. Whether providing advice which is complex or straightforward, multi-national or local, an attitude of delivering only the very best underscores everything we do.
We are committed to finding and developing talented legal graduates interested in becoming a solicitor. Our people are valued for their drive and legal expertise but also for their business advice too. We develop the same qualities in our trainees. With a structured solicitor training programme, our legal training contracts and graduate jobs allow you to establish the skills you need to achieve your aspirations.
The training programme allows you to focus your technical skills in each of the various practice groups as you rotate through four six-month seats. You will also take part in a full programme of personal and commercial development skills training too, including finance and business, communication, presenting, business writing, client care, professional standards and advocacy. From trainee to fully qualified solicitor, Eversheds Sutherland offer an environment for a highly rewarding legal career with unbounded opportunities for progression.
Within Company Commercial, our corporate group advises clients on mergers, acquisitions and other high level corporate activities - from IPOs and corporate reorganisations to private equity transactions and joint ventures. We provide advice and support in areas such as tax, VAT and banking. We also advise the financial services industry and investment funds, and have strong expertise in tax, company secretarial support and banking.
Our commercial team, on the other hand, has the expertise to address whatever aspects of the law affect businesses and the way they operate. We specialise in protecting people's ideas, advising local councils and dealing with software agreements - and that takes an impressive range of knowledge and skills. We have expertise in the EU and competition Law, for example, as well as intellectual property and e-commerce. We support clients on matters ranging from franchising and IT to local government education projects. And we even offer commercial services and advice to the telecoms industry.
When it comes to buying, selling or developing properties, our clients turn to us for specialist help on a whole raft of legal matters. Our dedicated teams have the expertise to deal with everything from plot sales to real estate finance and planning. We also have the flexibility and depth of experience to meet the specific needs of different client groups - including house builders, developers and investors. So it will come as no surprise that we are recognised internationally for our ability to achieve outstanding results in time-critical property projects.
Human Resources and Pensions
Did you know that ours is one of the biggest departments of its kind in Europe? The work we do ranges from pensions to employment tribunals, and our clients include major financial institutions and government bodies. As you might expect, we are recognised for our intellectual leadership in this field and run specialist training courses in employment law, pensions law and HR consultancy.
Litigation and Dispute Management
In today's rapidly changing and highly regulated business environment, disputes are inevitable. We help our clients resolve them without damaging valuable relationships. The team deals with business disputes, commercial litigation, construction, regulatory issues, real estate litigation, IT, shipping, intellectual property and enquiries and investigations.
At Eversheds, you will do more than develop your expertise in one of our business areas. We need lawyers who can look beyond individual deals to the wider business and industry drivers that affect our clients. For this reason, you will also have the opportunity to acquire in-depth sector experience in anything from aerospace, energy or education to healthcare, retail or financial institutions. So if you want the freedom to act as much in the capacity of a business adviser as a lawyer, Eversheds is the place to be.
