The energy transition needs you as Policy Advisor Energy

The Policy Advisor's main task is to research, develop, and implement policies that support the energy transition. This involves analyzing current policies, identifying gaps, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to craft effective policy proposals, and ensuring alignment with national and European legislation to facilitate sustainable energy practices.

We contribute to the energy transition, for everyone, with everyone. And as Policy Advisor Energy, you can take your part in this transition. Your role involves:

  • Analyze existing energy policies to identify improvement areas.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop comprehensive policy proposals.
  • Implement policy changes within the organization to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of implemented and upcoming policies.
  • Educate and inform internal teams and external partners on policy developments.
  • Represent Alliander in European and national working policy groups

In your role, you will contribute to ensuring system security and managing congestion through the smart solutions devised by System Operations. Your efforts will keep the network stable, distribute electricity equitably, and facilitate the integration of more companies into the network.

System Operations is based in Arnhem, but our hybrid working model offers the flexibility to work from anywhere. Whether it's from our offices in Apeldoorn, Amsterdam, Haarlem, or your home, location is no barrier.

With team members from around the globe, English is our lingua franca. We foster intense collaboration across all 20 teams, making a team-oriented attitude essential.

  • University degree plus 3 years in policy advisory or similar; electrical, energy tech background preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of electricity system operations; energy or electrical engineering studies beneficial.
  • Experience with EU and Dutch electricity regulations and policy-making processes.
  • Ability to identify policy needs from operational processes.
  • Proficient in analyzing, reviewing, and writing policy documents/reports.
  • Agile environment experience, balancing operational, tactical, and strategic needs.

Better organised for you

Based on a 38-hour working week, you will receive:

  • a gross monthly salary of € 4.274,51 to € 6.106,44 (Scale 9);
  • based on a full-time working week, an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 18% of your gross annual salary if your work full time. This includes 5.2% ADV (shorter working hours) and 8% holiday allowance. If you do not work full time, you are not entitled to ADV and you receive 12.8% IKB budget (which includes 8% holiday allowance). You can use your personal budget for purchasing extra days off or have it paid every month as extra salary. In December you’ll receive an end-of-year bonus of 5.94% of your gross annual salary.

  • Eligible employees can benefit from the 30% tax ruling
