Provide intelligent data insights which support sourcing and category strategy

Accountabilities

The role entails working as part of the Group Procurement team to execute defined Procurement Operations and analytics processes and support the definition of new processes that enable the team to be best in class:

Strategic and project focused

  • Provide intelligent data insights to support sourcing and category strategy.
  • Own Procurement’s savings methodology and ensure continued fit for purpose. Partner with Finance and other functions as appropriate.
  • Co-ordinate with Head of Procurement, Procurement Leadership Team and category/supplier managers to gather reporting needs/requirements and put in place an ongoing plan to deliver against those requirements.
  • Assume ownership of Procurement spend database - Co-ordinate generation of scheduled spend reports and ad hoc data requests for the team and stakeholders; Ownership of interfaces with Finance/Technology/others in order to ensure required inflow of source data;
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the database or reports; Support the development and ongoing delivery of reporting suite for Group Procurement for use with key stakeholders and within the Procurement community; Co-ordinate detailed analysis of spend, where possible.
  • Work with the Procurement Leadership and wider team to produce a suite of procurement reporting and MI, including for the Procurement team, internal and external stakeholders
  • Support, via appropriate analysis, the Procurement team in identifying sourcing, saving or category management opportunities.

Transactional

  • Support analysis during supplier tiering and segmentation exercises.
  • Validation of Procurement-generated savings and production of reporting/analysis
  • Oversee and validate 3rd party delivery of procurement spend reporting to required schedule and quality, and co-ordinate the creation of ad hoc or additional reporting requirements.
  • Create, maintain and deliver reporting to an agreed reporting calendar
  • Day to day execution of Procurement Operations and analytical activities in line with agreed SLAs, quality and timeliness measures.
  • Own and administrate the Group Procurement Contracts Database including the correct loading of contracts, generation of reporting and follow up actions including execution of controls. Perform continual system and data integrity administration tasks to ensure optimal use of the system.
  • Deliver or oversee delivery of procurement compliance reporting and Key Risk Indicator reports
  • Own, control and maintain procurement taxonomies
  • Input to the selection and implementation of appropriate MI & Reporting tools and process, including where tool/process change is required to support production of internal KPIs for the Procurement team
  • Leverage – though cross training – other resources within Procurement Operations in the delivery of MI & Reporting as appropriate
  • Ad hoc commercial/financial modelling
  • Ad hoc analysis of supplier financials
  • Working with Demand Management colleagues to produce analysis which supports identification of procurement opportunities such as supplier, spend consolidation.

Competencies & Qualities

Mandatory

  • Experience of working within and supporting a procurement function in an MI/reporting/analytical capacity
  • Experience of working with a range of procurement data and systems including P2P systems (mandatory)
  • analytics expert with high levels of diligence and attention to detail, focused on creating great quality outputs.
  • Able to translate complex data and information into effective stories and presentations for stakeholders e.g. create effective presentations and output which clearly articulate key data points.
  • An effective communicator, able to work with and engage a range of stakeholders and colleagues across the organisation, and able to bring data and reporting to life to achieve the right result.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Experience of using a range of procurement and analytics tools – highly tool literate.
  • An understanding of company financials and commercial modelling e.g. NPV, and experience of applying those in practice.
  • Self-driven and positive attitude with the ability and willingness to take ownership of tasks, processes and operations with limited direction.
  • Analytical mindset, with good understanding of Procurement and cost saving methodologies including experience of supporting Procurement Category Managers with analytics across the full Procurement cycle.
  • Understanding of how a successful Procurement team functions is essential.
  • Cooperative style and team player.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task and mange conflicting priorities.
  • Flexible and adaptive in approach to projects and problem solving.
  • Comfortable challenging peers and stakeholders where required to achieve the best result.

Desirable

  • Advanced PowerPoint, Word skills.
  • Experience of using best practice analytical tools or platforms, such as PowerBI or Qlikview
  • experience of functional budget management (within the context of supporting the management and preparation of Procurement function budgets)
