We are an ambitious organisation, and we are looking for an equally ambitious and innovative Body Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic Research & Development team. Nissan is positioned to become the most desirable Asian brand in Europe, and we need your help to get there.

We are seeking an Engineer who will take responsibility for the application and integration of electrical and electronic systems to Nissan European vehicle projects. This will include the capture of requirements, the creation of high-level specifications, liaison with other Alliance R&D Centres, the management of suppliers and the adoption of parts in our European and Russian production plants.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Capturing the requirements of European customers and system owners
  • Developing high level specifications for body electronics components
  • Negotiating and coordinate specification development with Alliance R&D Centres in Japan, North America, Russia and India
  • Designing and maintain EOL configuration data through development and lifecycle
  • Managing Tier 1 suppliers to deliver products to quality, cost & timing targets
  • Managing in-house and supplier validation of components to Nissan standards
  • Working with test and customer orientated engineering teams to resolve concerns
  • Collaborating with Purchase team to support sourcing and cost definition/reduction tasks
  • Ensuring that parts applied are fit for purpose through design review
  • Carrying out European frontline activities such as launch and market concern resolution
  • Making cost, quality & timing status reports to management

You must:

  • Have relevant experience in an automotive electrical and electronic development environment, having completed a minimum of one previous vehicle development cycle with a vehicle manufacturer or supplier
  • Have experience of managing Tier 1 suppliers in the development of a complex electronic product, or come from a Tier 1 supplier yourself
  • Understand electrical theory and the operation of electronic and electro-mechanical devices
  • Be familiar with software and hardware development
  • Have good communication skills and be able to communicate effectively in a cross cultural and cross functional team
  • Be self-motivated and self-managing, pro-active, positive, personable and energetic
  • Be flexible regarding working practice and working hours
  • Be able to travel abroad approximately three times per year
  • Be competent with PC applications, MS Office, etc.
