Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, headquarters of the Damen Shipyards Group, is a well-known leading international shipyard. Damen Shipyards Group operates more than 36 shipyards, repair yards and related companies worldwide with a total turnover of 1.7 billion Euro. At Damen Shipyards Gorinchem we design and build a wide range of products including tugs, workboats, naval and patrol vessels, high speed craft, dredgers, vessels for the offshore industry, ferries, pontoons and cargo vessels. Damen delivers more than 160 vessels each year. In fact, we have built more than 6,000 ships since 1969. Our clients include contractors, oil companies, port authorities, offshore companies and maritime service providers.

THE ROLE

As Project Cost Controller you are the linking pin between the business and the finance department. You are part of the Finance Team of the Damen Workboats division and responsible for controlling the projects within this division. You monitor the project revenue, costs and scenario’s, draft related reports, challenge the business regarding this and manage the relating risks proactively.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As a Project Cost Controller you will:

• Be responsible for project control of dedicated project(s), cash flow management, cost control, forecasting, pro-actively monitor forecast versus actuals, risk management, reporting and general monitoring progress;
• Take care of accurate project accounting and costs, allocation of revenues and costs between projects;
• Monitor and actively manage to ensure that projects stay within the approved budgets;
• Identify problems and independently proposing ways to improve the project financial results;
• Deliver monthly reports and updates of the project financial status;
• Be involved in the continuing improvements of project control process and risk management within Damen Workboats Division and the relevant yard(s).

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be successful in this role you bring the following:

• A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience with controlling projects in a technical production environment;
• Substantive knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP, and reporting experience;
• A good command of the Dutch and English language, both written and verbal;
• As a person you are analytical, accurate and possess good communication skills;
• You show initiative in your work and you enjoy working in teams.
