Are you interested to see how credit risk models and lending works in practice? Do you like solving complex quantitative questions and challenges? Are you a star in Python code, or would you like it to be? Does learning energize you as much as educating others?

ING’s global Model Validation Credit Risk (CRMV) Tribe is looking for you as our next intern.

We are hiring student(s) to do a thesis or working internship with us:

  • As a working student you will support us in our business-as-usual operation. This includes a variety of activities:
  • Develop our validation tools in Python or SAS.
  • Create, support & improve our validation frameworks & standards.
  • Provide support to the model validators on on-going validations.
  • As a thesis intern you will write your MSc thesis on a challenging quantitative subject relevant to you and to ING. We will provide you with a case description and data, guide you through your research, and share our expertise with you on the content.

During both internships, you will work closely with one or more senior members of our team. By doing so, we hope to make your internship a great success. If possible and desired by you, we might even extent this into the start of your career here at ING. This could be in the form of a part-time role in the department during the rest of you studies or a full-time role as a Junior Model Validator for example.

During our validations we independently assess whether the models are fit for purpose and use. We work partially at the head office in Amsterdam and partially remotely at home.

  • You are currently enrolled at a university
  • Good English writing skills, you are accurate and skilled at drafting reports.
  • Knowledgeable with Python coding, or willing to learn.
  • Available for 6+ months as working student or 3+ months as thesis intern.

What we offer

  • Reimbursement of travel-costs during your internship
  • A great learning environment
  • The opportunity to work with a highly skilled and experienced team of professionals.

“I can imagine that many students feel a little daunted by the idea of approaching ING, but they really don’t need to be. It really surprised me too – I immediately felt at home here, and the whole six-month period was great fun. It almost didn’t feel like work at all!"
