We are looking for an experienced Consultant (3-8 years) for the role of Engagement Manager (3-5 years) or Industry Leader (5-8 years) that is ready to take the lead in helping our clients shape and realise their Information and Data vision and ambitions. You will be part of our consultancy practice, and will be responsible for the growth and commercial success of one or more clients in your industry. You will build relationships, drive business development and help manage client satisfaction through the successful delivery of services.

How are we organised?

As Engagement Manager / Industry Leader you will become part of our consultancy practice, where you will be trained in various methodologies, standards and tools relating to our work. We expect you to bring your network and experience in consulting and business development to the table, but recognise that you will need training to fully grasp the impact and reach of our products and services. We will guide you through those first steps, after which you will find that you have a lot of freedom and a very entrepreneurial role to develop existing and new business.

The consultancy practice is a diverse group of professionals, greatly varying in (educational) background, personal drive and nationality, but all with a willingness to help our clients become the best in what they do. The consultancy practice is organised into four distinct yet very complementary capabilities, and at Semmtech we offer our consultants the opportunity to develop themselves in any of these depending on personal drive, ambition and aptitude:

Industries – The Industry consultants have a deep understanding of the value chain and ecosystem of their specific industries and clients. They help grow the impact and value we deliver at existing and new clients through business development, account- and relationship management.

Project Delivery – The Project Delivery practice collectively provides the consulting and project management capabilities that are required for the smooth delivery of projects and services. This is also where all junior consultants start their Semmtech journey, after which they choose in which direction to develop.

Fields – The Fields support projects and business development with deep expertise, as well as the development of thought leadership within their respective area of expertise (e.g. support product- and service development, speak at conferences, write blogs, define new propositions).

Research & Innovation – The Research & Innovation team supports the whole company with the development of new innovative ideas, and bringing these to life through internal- and external projects, MVP’s and pilots, ultimately delivering them back to the Fields, Industries and Development for further scaling.

What will you do as an Engagement Manager / Industry Leader:

  • Work with the Marketing & Sales team for Industry business development
  • Create value propositions and campaigns to grow your industry
  • Develop client propositions based on your client needs and opportunities
  • Close profitable deals with prospects and leads
  • Take part in memberships of Special Interest Groups (SIG’s) and stakeholder Management
  • Plan strategic account management for your enterprise client(s)
  • Build close long-term relationships with clients
  • Advise clients on digital ambitions, roadmaps and strategic plans
  • Work with Engagement managers and Contract managers for up- and cross-selling
  • Transform / optimise information and data processes for your clients
  • Optional: Deliver IT & Data strategy services for enterprise clients

What skills and qualifications do you have:

  • A master’s degree, preferably in Civil Engineering / Technology / Business Administration
  • Fluent in both Dutch and English
  • 3-8 years working experience
  • Strong analytical, communication and commercial skills
  • Background in management consulting / technology consulting
  • Convincing track record in client satisfaction and relationship development
  • Convincing track record in business development, (marketing) and sales
  • Enthusiasm for: New technology & Data science / Data management, Systems engineering & low-code applications, and Tools and processes as a means for value creation
  • – Preferred, a strong existing network in one (or more) of our Industries – Infrastructure, Energy, Construction, Hydrogen, Shipbuilding, Aerospace
  • Experienced hires will be asked to provide a reference from a former employer
