Job Description:

This is an exciting role where you will work with many functional leads and stakeholders across the UK, Germany and France.

This Project Controller role will be in the Biomass project. Biomass is an Earth Observation satellite, designed to measure the mass of carbon stored in the Earth’s rainforests, where previously estimations have been used. The purpose of the mission is to more accurately understand the planet’s carbon pool to provide support to United Nations treaties such as deforestation, forest degradation and emissions.

The role will be to manage this specific programme: profit & loss, cash, working capital, and earned value - together with business stakeholders by providing data analyses and proposing improvement actions if needed. The role will also require you to support proposals & commercial deals.

Who we are looking for

Being a Program/Project Controller requires a robust business understanding, a feeling for numbers and solid social skills to be able to manage your stakeholders in adversity towards the best business decisions for the company. The role is challenging in its complexity and has to be undertaken by somebody who is capable to understand the people, the product and the numbers. You will work with the project team and be embedded in the Finance community. A high level of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, conflict management skills, persistence, and assertiveness are required to master this business partnering role.

How will you contribute?

As a Program/Project Controller, you will be a vital part in the Finance community and the project organization. As a challenging Business Partner, you will contribute substantially to managing the profit & loss of the project. You will gather and provide data to enable educated decision making on management level and give visibility about performance vs. targets.

  • Highlight and analyse discrepancies and propose actions to optimize financial and operational performance.
  • Collaborate and challenge your business partners from all directorates (e.g. Project Organization, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Sales and other Finance departments).
  • Support key change decisions in the project (business cases, rate adaptation, major modifications etc.).
  • Manage the financial aspects of the project contracts including cash, risk and opportunity management. During bid phases, you will be in charge of all financial aspects in contractual amendments and the acquisition of additional orders while meeting the required profitability targets.
  • Management accounts of Contractual change notes CCN and Estimate at Completions EAC
  • Management reporting

Experience / qualifications

  • Project controlling experience or a transferable financial background
  • CIMA or ACCA qualified is desirable
  • SAP experience beneficial
  • Large / Matrix / transnational organisation experience
