Mission Systems Engineer

Job Description:

We are looking for a Technical/Systems Engineer to join Airbus Defence & Space working on future Space Science missions at our bustling site in Stevenage, UK.

You will be joining the esteemed team responsible for proposals, typically to ESA or other Agencies, and subsequent development of overall mission/systems design in feasibility studies for future space science/EO missions. You will take a leading role in the development of mission concepts and architectures, and work with the team to develop overall business strategies within Airbus in relation to these missions which includes designing and leading on associated R&D activities

Your Tasks & Accountabilities

• Generating new mission concepts
• System performance modelling
• Development of mission and spacecraft designs
• Leading and contributing to proposals
• Leading related R&D activities and carrying out R&D studies and developments
• Managing customer studies e.g. for ESA

Desired Skills & Experience

• Educated a degree level in an associated discipline
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Ability to think at systems level and to look at problems from first principles
• Ability to work proactively in a highly versitile environment
• A background in space/aviation would be preferred, but not essential
