The energy transition is in full swing and Eneco is leading the way. Our goal? Be completely climate neutral by 2035. This applies to our own business activities, but also to the energy we supply to our customers. For example, we develop wind and solar parks ourselves, and we help customers take sustainable steps every day with smart products and good advice. The whole of the Netherlands is switching gears. Towards smarter, cleaner and more sustainable. And everyone has their own reason for doing so. Some like to contribute to a better climate. Others switch because their neighbors do it too, or because saving makes them happy. At Eneco, we want to help everyone take the next sustainable step. And we're looking for the best people who can make that happen.

What you’ll do

As a Legal Counsel, you are a business partner in the legal field and closely involved in Wind offshore projects as well as (related) green hydrogen-projects in Northwestern Europe. By forming Joint Ventures with other big industry players and developing large wind offshore projects and thereto related projects, you contribute to the transition to a sustainable energy supply in line with our One Planet ambition to become climate neutral by 2035. Together with developers, project and contract managers, maintenance experts and financial specialists, you can shape challenging projects and partnerships with other investors, with a high degree of independence.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Drafting and assessing legal documents,with a focus on project related contracts, such as Turbine Supply Agreements, Balance of Plant Contracts and other EPC contracts (e.g. electrolysers), with a focus on Wind-offshore;
  • Drafting and assessing tender documentation to be submitted in tenders across Northwestern Europe;
  • Negotiating complex contracts as a member of the negotiating team;
  • Advising on the legal structure of new projects, including joint ventures.

Is this about you?

You've been through several fast learning curves and you can quickly adapt to new environments and situations. You have guts, a high energy level, a positive attitude and execution power in order to realize goals in an ever faster changing organization. You translate complex problems into practical solutions, and you know how to strike a good balance between identifying risks and seizing opportunities.

  • At least five years of relevant work experience, preferably both in a law firm as well as in a corporate company;
  • You are an experienced negotiator, who has negotiated complex project developments deals (FIDIC/EPC) as part of a negotiation team;
  • You have a sharp analytical mind and you easily switch between strategic issues and operational problem;
  • You have a clear and concise communication style;
  • Excellent command of the English language is a requirement.

This is where you’ll work

Within Eneco, the business unit Asset Development and Realisation is active in developing, building and managing renewable energy projects. From start to finish. Asset Development and Realisation legal currently consists of seven legal counsels, of which two are primarily working on offshore wind projects. As one of these two legal counsels has taken on another opportunity within Eneco, we are searching for an experienced replacement. We tailor each project to the specific needs of the location and of our partners. After a project is realized, it remains (co)owned by Eneco. Eneco has a sizable project portfolio, an impressive track record and an extensive pipeline of projects in this innovative and exciting sport. Our office is easily accessible by public transport: a 2-minute walk from Rotterdam Alexander metro and train station.
