We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts across Engineering, Architecture, DevOps and Agile Delivery providing services across the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and The Netherlands.

We are looking for a talented and dedicated leader to join the newly formed Payments & Mobile technology organisation which looks after TUI’s Mobile applications and Global Payment solutions.

The Lead API & Microservices Developer is a thought leader, a practitioner and an advocate of state-of-the-art API and Cloud engineering practices. Together with their team the Lead Developer researches, evaluates, promotes, and helps embed new engineering, delivery and collaboration practices and approaches. They continuously improve how the team works and its output. As a great people lead, the Lead Developer constantly helps people in the team to develop and stay at the forefront of their area of expertise.

About the job:

As a Lead API & Microservices Developer you will be working within a cross-functional team of Developers, Testers, Solution Architects, DevOps and SREs. Together with your team you will own the software products from conception to operation. In collaboration with other Technology Leads and Senior Architects, you will help shape the vision and IT strategy of the Mobile domain, ultimately translating business opportunities and customer expectations into innovative IT solutions.

You will strive for a high degree of automation, clean architectures and high quality with a customer-centric mindset. You guide teams to select and use the right tools for the right job, thus solving business and technical problems in an efficient way. You will work in a cloud environment, especially AWS, and develop resilient and high-performing cloud-native applications. You have a deep understanding of the AWS toolbox, leveraging AWS services and cloud design patterns in a micro-service landscape. You can tackle the whole development lifecycle of designing, building, testing, deploying, and efficiently running software solutions.

You will ensure the members of your team are growing within their area of expertise, acquiring new skills, doing valuable work, working well together, and feeling engaged and supported. You will be responsible for identification and recruitment of new talent into your team, coaching and mentoring existing and new team members and their active career development. You will focus on enabling effective decision making within your team and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

About you:

• Solid understanding and practical knowledge of the full software development lifecycle; design patterns; architecture patterns; SOLID principles; Cloud technology; API maintenance; CI/CD and DevSecOps.
• Strong experience in backend development using programming languages such as JavaScript / TypeScript / Java / Kotlin.
• Experience in service design (SOA, Microservices, ESB’s)
• Hands-on technical knowledge and delivery experience using AWS cloud services including S3, KMS, Cloud Formation, API Gateway, Lambdas, ECS , Fargate, SQS, SNS and others.
• Passionate for software Security, Reliability and Maintainability.
• Thought leader in Software engineering and Cloud best practices, active member of various Development, Architecture, Cloud and Security communities.
