Description

We exist to rewrite the rules of insurance so it’s something people stand with, not against.

Our story began in 2017 when we set out to transform bicycle insurance by connecting passionate cyclists all over the UK to form a collective and protect their bikes. A better model for insurance was born.

Fast forward to today and we’ve:

  • Captured the enthusiast cyclist market, expanded into commercial business partnering and quickly become leaders in last-minute insurance
  • Launched in 5 territories and are continuing to expand across Europe
  • Been awarded 'Best Cycle Insurance Provider' (for the past 4 years in a row)
  • Opened office in London, Bristol & Amsterdam, and enabled a remote-first way of working

Help us change an outdated industry...

We’re growing real fast on our path to make the Laka collective model the industry standard and we’re expanding across segments, products, and territories. We’re looking for innovative, bold and brave minds to help us build the world’s best insurance company.

About the role

As a part of our expanding Sales team, your role will be to maximise the growth of our B2B and B2B2C partnerships, with the aim being to deliver real value from our partners into Laka. Your role is centred around understanding our partners and their business models, to work with them as a true partner; advising and providing value wherever possible to grow the relationship. The role will predominantly focus on maximising partnerships across the Netherlands and Germany.

You’ll also work closely with internal stakeholders to communicate insights, results and recommendations between the Sales and Marketing teams. This is an exciting new role where you’ll have the opportunity to take on the management of key new accounts, as we continue to expand across Europe.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who is super passionate about all-things-cycling to come and join us as we go through a huge period of growth. We will support you to succeed in delivering great results from our partnerships, and ensuring you’re well-rewarded for your successes.

As an Account Manager you’ll

  • Have a primary focus on monetising partner relationships
  • Build, manage and grow partner relationships to ensure we are getting the best value out of them
  • Provide the highest quality of ongoing support to partners, promoting additional services, identifying new sales or marketing opportunities to maximise growth and increase partner retention
  • Be the key point of contact between partners and internal Laka teams for all partnership marketing initiatives and be responsible for maintaining the Laka brand presence across partner platforms
  • Have responsibility for internal revenue targets and lead reviews for partner accounts
  • Be responsible for providing feedback on any issues partners may face and delivering solutions to help them overcome these
  • Support the Sales team to manage the departmental budget by ensuring partner accounts are tracked and organised

Location: We are looking for this role to be based in either Amsterdam or Germany, with no minimum requirement to be in one of our offices (the nearest office for this role is central Amsterdam).

Requirements

You’ll be successful by:

  • Having 3-5 years experience of managing accounts within the cycling sector
  • Having a proven track record of success, delivering on and exceeding targets, whilst managing multiple partner accounts
  • Understanding what it takes to achieve success. Working as part of a small but dynamic team within a leading Insurtech business, you’ll roll up your sleeves to achieve the results required
  • Demonstrating the ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Being commercially astute, with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to identify opportunities to deliver partner engagement and success
  • Having the ability to assess problems and opportunities to make balanced, sound decisions when needed
  • Speaking fluent English, Dutch and German

And just so you know, Insurance experience isn’t required (for most roles). We’ll teach you anything you need to know and upskill you if needed. But… before you apply, please make sure that you have permission to work in the Netherlands as we’re unable to provide visa sponsorship for any of our current roles.

Benefits

At Laka, we’re passionate about building a culture that cares for our people as much as we care for our customers. Our benefits package currently includes:

  • A remote-first, flexible working environment, built on trust and autonomy
  • Share options - we want everyone to have a stake in our success
  • Commission-based bonus scheme, based on success
  • Non-contributory pension scheme
  • 25 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays), with the option to take more if you need it
  • €230 contribution to your home working set up
  • €575 annual personal development allowance
  • €10 per month Laka credit - for all you bike enthusiasts
  • Great cycling industry discounts & retail discounts programme
  • Wellbeing and mental health support, via Spill
  • Co-working office spaces, with fun social events, including paid-for weekly team lunches & company offsites

Started in 2017, Laka set out to transform bicycle insurance by connecting passionate cyclists all over the UK to form a community and protect their bikes. A better model for insurance was born. For once people come first in insurance by fairly sharing the cost amongst each other.
