Your opportunity

NAA Quality Corporate Reporting (QCR) Centre of Excellence

A specific opportunity has arisen in the NAA Quality Corporate Reporting (QCR) Centre of Excellence which is part of the Accounting and Corporate Reporting Team within National Accounting and Audit (NAA). This position will put you at the forefront of the financial reporting process enabling you to get hands on experience in the latest developments in all aspects of corporate reporting. This includes working with engagement teams to help them implement technical requirements and working directly with subject matter specialists from whom you can acquire technical and practical skills. The opportunity provides you with a unique opportunity to stay abreast of accounting, governance and regulatory developments – an invaluable skill in today’s corporate reporting environment.

The objective of QCR is to enhance the quality of the annual report & financial statements of listed entities. We do this in a variety of ways including risk-based engagement reviews and focused reviews across a broader population, providing insights into current areas of focus, driving high quality corporate reporting and shaping communications and learning for our people.

In addition to QCR activities, there will be opportunities to get involved with other areas of work the NAA Accounting and Corporate Reporting Team is delivering through an increasing portfolio of corporate reporting projects, internal tools and resources and external communications and events. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Accounting and Corporate Reporting consultations
  • The Annual Report Insights project
  • The Finance for the Future Awards programme
  • Working with Accounting for Sustainability and other bodies in the corporate reporting space (including framework and standard setting bodies)
  • Developing and delivering environmental, social and governance (ESG) and climate change training and activities, including auditor guidance and external learning and information products, and
  • Supporting the ESG assurance practice in A&A, both in the UK and NSE, with tools, training, technical support and insights.

We are proud to offer flexible working arrangements which allow our people to choose the most suitable working arrangement that works for them. Whether this is working 4 days per week, taking the summer months off work, or more flexibility around your working pattern, we consider both formal and informal working arrangements that allow our people and our clients the best outcome.

If you would like to hear more about our flexible working arrangements, please let us know.

Are you looking to return to the workplace after an extended career break?

For this role we can offer coaching and support designed for returners to refresh your knowledge and skills and help your transition back into the workplace after a career break of 2 years or more. If this is relevant for you, just let your recruiter know when you make your application.

Your role

As a Manager/Senior Manager within the NAA QCR team you will have responsibility for:

  • Reviewing and analysing company reports and accounts to drive high quality corporate reporting.
  • Keeping at the forefront of emerging focus areas and ensuring these are communicated and considered with engagement teams through reviews.
  • Liaising with audit engagement partners, engagement quality partners and engagement teams in influencing improvements in annual reports of our Large & Complex audited entities.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge and understanding of accounting standards, the Companies Act and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Having a broader perspective of potential issues encountered when working with diverse teams and the strategies to overcome them including having a clear understanding of the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture.

Your work, your choice

At Deloitte we believe the best impact is the value we add, not the hours we sit at our desk. We carefully consider agile ways of working, both formal and informal, that allow for the best impact for our people and our audited entities. Please speak to your recruiter about the working pattern that works best for you.

Location: mixture of home and office. We work across industry specialisms - our audited entities are varied, and vary in location, but the work we do in QCR follows our Deloitte Ways of Working . We specify full mobility for our audit roles, but we make arrangements respectfully.

Work pattern: This is a permanent contract opportunity.

The role can be worked on a full-time / part-time or other annualised days basis.

Our team members work a variety of agile working patterns. Tell us what arrangement works for you and we'll try to accommodate.

Your professional experience

  • ACA/ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
  • Thorough knowledge of IFRS - experience of applying IFRS in a major accounting firm or in industry is an asset but not required.
  • Strong understanding of corporate reporting requirements and best practice for listed entities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence to drive high quality corporate reporting.
  • Good research and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work under own initiative and to manage and prioritise work schedule.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Your Service Line: Audit & Assurance

In an industry best known for looking back, Deloitte looks beyond.

Our Audit & Assurance team understand the most important decisions are the ones we are yet to make. Crafting the future in an informed and clear-sighted way means understanding current conditions, as well as the trends that are shaping tomorrow. That is why we use our expertise in audit to show where things stand now, and to help inform the next step. With the assurance we provide, we help our audited entities to look ahead with strength and confidence across all their accounting, regulatory and transaction needs.

Innovation is the key, underpinned by audit quality. You will be joining a diverse team of experts capable of delivering meaningful and durable change for both our audited entities and our profession.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm. The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.
