You will work within the Systems Solutions System Engineering Team, participating in the development and delivery of programmes for our mail customers, which include Royal Mail and PostNord. Customer focus is on parcel processing solutions and the refresh of the letter processing systems.

You will primarily be home based with occasional travel to the Havant offices.

A day in the life of the Systems Engineer could include:

• In Operational Support role – problem solving, participate in technical reviews, manage programme changes end-to-end, curate the models representing the production service.
• As the customers technical conscience – being proactive by promoting ongoing service improvements and adaptations that positively impact the customers experience.
• Supporting the product owner – assisting with the requirements capture, assist in the backlog prioritisation with internal teams.
• In solution design mode – using a model based approach, help to create innovative solutions and approaches to deploying new capabilities. All in a challenging non-functional environment. Then maintain the models used by engineering teams.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Required skills, qualifications and experience:

• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience of IT systems from an operational and service delivery perspective.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience:

• Experience of being part of an Agile team.
• Understanding of collaborative toolsets, e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint, Slack.
• Have some customer-facing experience.
• Understanding of system modelling toolsets and methodologies. UML, SysML, TOGAF.
• Background in or an interest and willingness to learn about mail/parcel processing.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of industry experience.
