Do you want to disrupt how consumers buy groceries? Do you have experience as (for example) an operations (excellence) manager, logistics manager, continuous improvement specialist or supply chain consultant? Do you have a strong analytical mind? Are you known for your huge drive? Then act now and join us!

As our Continuous Improvement & Operations Manager, you are the bridge between our operations and our strategy. Using your analytical mindset and charismatic leadership skills you will bring our innovative supply chain to the next level: you analyze our current way of working, propose actionable plans and motivate the team to work with you. Your role is two-sided! You will manage an FC team and daily operations, and use your brainpower to propose and implement well-defined strategies and action plans to structurally improve our supply chain operations. You don’t have to be afraid you’ll sit behind your desk the entire day and no two days will be the same!

You will be based in one of our 10+ Fulfilment Centers (FCs) in Germany, France or in the Netherlands. Our FC's are the center of operations where our shoppers pick groceries for thousands of customers 7 days per week. Around 700 people work in one FC in shifts, from the early morning until the late evening. From there, the picked groceries are sent to our Hubs, from where they are finally delivered to the customers with our electric vehicles.

What’s your role about?

Around 2 days a week you'll be in charge of an entire Fulfilment Center (FC). You will be the Supervisor of the day, and you'll spend this day on the shop floor. During this day you lead +/- 100 Shoppers and their team leads to ensure all groceries leave the FC complete and on time. Under your supervision, people stay happy, safe and there is a smooth, safe and intelligent flow of goods. Supervisor shifts come in day (06:30 - 16:00) and evening (14:00 - 22:00) shifts and can take place every day of the week, including weekends.

You will use your operational expertise to implement diverse projects to optimize and scale our operations, so we can continue our incredible growth! With insights gained from the floor and an eye for how processes work, you analyze the workflow of the FC and find efficiency gainers. Soon you’ll have multiple projects under your belt! You usually pilot a project within your own FC first, and manage the roll-out in other FCs when it's a success. You will play a leading role in the innovative supply chain of a disruptive and fast growing online grocery store!

At Picnic, we're proud to be a true innovator in the operational game. Our teams of Data Analysts and Software Developers create all systems in-house. You’ll work with them to deep dive into issues, and together you improve Picnic’s Warehouse Management System.

Are you excited? This is the chance to develop future-proof supply chains and establish the next generation of operational logistics. Our talented, ambitious and young team (average age: 28) takes on big challenges. Come join us!

In short, you will:

  • Supervise the daily operations in your FC +/- 2 days a week
  • Be the team lead of one of the teams in the FC (e.g. captains or operators)
  • Take ownership over your projects while getting the freedom to experiment
  • Formulate, manage and monitor operation metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and operational performance
  • Implement and test projects to improve the flow of processes and the Warehouse Management System
  • Consult and collaborate with all relevant departments to improve our supply chain
  • You'll have one FC as your base (Diemen, Utrecht, Apeldoorn, Eindhoven, Berkel en Rodenrijs, Zaandam, Rotterdam or Heerenveen).

What you need

  • Master’s degree, preferably in Engineering or Supply Chain
  • Multiple years of full-time work experience. The more work experience you bring, the quicker you will grow in responsibilities. (<1 years experience? Take a look at our Fast Track starting in February and September!)
  • Preferably experience in a leadership role
  • Drive: with a get-up-and-go attitude, you can be ready at 6 A.M.
  • Quick thinking: you identify issues and come armed with a solution
  • Capable mind: intellectual horsepower to learn on the go
  • Analytical eye: you quickly grasp numerical information
  • Pragmatism: You are able to turn your idea into a successful implementation
  • Humbleness: you stack shelves and pack boxes to better understand the flow of processes
  • Leadership skills: you know how to motivate and coach your team
  • Fluency in English and preferably also in Dutch

Our mission is to make grocery shopping simple, fun, and affordable for everyone. Beyond that, we love working towards a greener future by using cutting-edge warehouse technologies and running a 100% electrical fleet of delivery vans. Are you ready to join this unique technology-first venture?

As Picnic is relatively small, and because we’re growing so fast – you’re given responsibility straight away. Two weeks after I started, I was doing the order forecasts. That’s a lot of responsibility. Many of our processes rely on the forecasting; the products we buy, the shoppers…
