Mimecast are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to work as part of a dynamic and fast-paced, global legal team within a rapidly growing, public, cloud-based email management solutions company. This is an exciting role with a channel sales focus but with a mixed workload providing in-house legal support globally.

As a key member of the global legal team, you’ll be required to support all Mimecast regions as needed as the legal business partner to our channel sales and channel operations teams. You’ll need experience of working in-house providing commercial legal support within a company with a channel sales model. You will need to demonstrate sound analytical skills, the ability to assess and mitigate legal risk, excellent communication skills and the ability to work to a high standard within tight deadlines. It’s an energetic, solution driven environment and You’ll work alongside and advise key stake holders and business partners across Mimecast and be required to take a leading role in advising the business with regards to channel sales contracts, compliance and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Your main duties will include:

  • Partnering with Mimecast Channel Sales and Channel Operations Teams globally to provide advice on channel programs, initiatives, promotions, programmatic changes and contractual terms.
  • Negotiating, advising upon, reviewing and drafting Distribution, Reseller Managed Service Provider and Referral Agreements
  • Preparing and reviewing documentation in support of channel marketing programs
  • Researching and advising upon applicable laws and regulations, including competition law
  • Working as part of the Mimecast Business Legal Team negotiating, advising upon, reviewing and drafting:
  • Customer Contracts
  • Complex Vendor Agreements
  • Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • Marketing Agreements
  • Data Privacy Agreements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
  • Reviewing and updating contractual templates and maintaining version control
  • Providing support for legal operations initiatives and representing the legal team in cross-functional project meetings, particularly where there is a channel sales focus
  • Taking a key role in developing and training other members of the legal team
  • You may also be required to take on other challenging projects for the Legal Department which may include document drafting, policy or process development, legal research and other ad-hoc legal work from time-to-time

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of channel sales and programs preferably in the SaaS industry
  • A sound understanding of regulatory and competition law compliance and ability to analyse, issue spot and advise on regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced drafting and negotiations skills and ability to effectively prioritise
  • Sound analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously with initiative and confidence and also as part of a team
  • Be able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen and an ability to recognise and balance risk appropriately
  • A can-do attitude and flexible approach

Qualifications and Experience:

  • UK qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive, with relevant experience advising upon (preferably in-house in the SaaS industry).
  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of European Directives and Regulations would be an advantage

Location

The role is based in the City of London with the possibility of occasional travel to other Mimecast locations.
