We have an excellent opportunity for a talented Procurement Category Management Specialist to join our UK Helicopters division team based at our Yeovil site in the South West of England.

The role is based in Yeovil, Somerset however, subject to management agreement, you will have the flexibility to choose your split between time spent working in the office and at home.

What you will do

As a member of the Mission Systems Category Management Team you will support all of the Leonardo Helicopters Division (LH) legal entities (in UK, Italy, USA and Poland) to :

  • Own a number of Mission Avionic commodity types and act as primary interface for LH with Suppliers with regard to business relationship and as LH commercial specialist for your commodities.
  • Lead negotiations and manage contracts with suppliers.
  • Build supplier/commodity strategies, working in coordination with key stakeholders including Engineering, Programmes, Product Management and Customer Support departments.
  • Manage the contractual aspects of new developments/improvement of existing arrangements.
  • Manage strategic supplier equipment development programmes in coordination with engineering and programme management teams.
  • Define manage and deliver strategies to procure commodities in regional and global markets in support of LH business needs, including the strategic sourcing of new suppliers and equipment to provide high levels of supplier performance and product support.
  • Support the provision of supplier equipment costs for new customer bids and proposals.
  • Control supplier costs in alignment with Programme budgets and achieve departmental cost reduction targets.
  • Negotiate appropriate contractual frame works to include Terms and Conditions/pricing and Customer Support requirements (e.g. repair/overhaul of equipment and /or services) which may be complex and carry an appreciable risk for the company. These must support the business requirements for the acquisition, design, development, qualification and aftermarket support of complex and sometimes bespoke equipment.
  • Develop and consolidate business relations with key suppliers. Acting as point of escalation for LH team for significant supplier issues.
  • Manage delivery of design, development and qualification programmes.
  • Support business meetings as required in all LH and Supplier locations worldwide.

What we are looking for

  • Ideally educated to Degree level or have HNC Business studies (or equivalent) and/or MCIPS or equivalent professional qualification and have some relevant experience within the Aerospace or similar Sector. (If able to demonstrate a high level of experience within a Procurement or Commercial role within an Aerospace or similar sector then lower level formal qualifications may be acceptable).
  • Proven experience of agreeing terms and conditions, managing contractual compliance issues and delivering performance improvement against core objectives (e.g. cost reduction, schedule adherence, lead time reduction etc).
  • Self-motivated to promote and drive project performance.
  • Able to make decisions, quickly with limited facts.
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Able to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
  • Innovative in order to promote change to benefit the business performance.
