Job Description:

Located on the North Wales / Cheshire border, Broughton is the largest Airbus plant in the UK and focuses primarily on the manufacture of wings for the Airbus family of aircraft.

We are looking for an Industrial Robotics R&D Engineer to join the team and support the development of innovative robotic solutions for aerospace.

Your contributions will focus on inventing, designing, building, testing and fine tuning innovative robotic solutions to be installed on Airbus shop floors, to manufacture aerospace parts. Your work will help improve and expand Airbus robotic systems portfolio. You will be a fundamental part of Airbus Robotics and Automation function, but also work and collaborate with a transversal team across functions to design and develop prototypes and demonstrators as well as to industrialise products.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Analyse aerospace manufacturing specificities and propose disruptive robotic solutions
  • Contribute to the functional analysis and the collaborative definition of the requirement specification
  • Define a proper robotic architecture to meet the requirement specification
  • Design and integrate innovative robotic solutions from prototypes up to industrialized machines
  • Design & integrate prototypes & demonstrators of innovative robotic solutions
  • Validate system assumptions and functionality under Airbus product integrity standards
  • Build & share a deep technical understanding of robotic solutions

Experience and Skills

  • Master Science in Mechatronics, Robotics or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in Robotics & Automation
  • Hands-on experience on the technical development of innovative robotic solutions.
  • Successful experience of integration of an industrial robotic solution used in production
  • At least one of the following:
  • able to design or redesign mechanical devices using CAM/CAD tools,
  • experience in the design of control systems and tuning motion controllers, or
  • proficiency in PLC programming and industrial control implementation
  • Good at practical things, such as making prototyping parts, assembling components, etc.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to develop and implement complex methods, learn and apply ways of working, tools and frameworks.
