Description

You will work on the activities related to the Greek National Satellite Space Project for which ESA is providing technical support. The project is part of the nation’s Recovery and Resilience Facility plans, which aim to enhance Greece’s capabilities in satellite technologies and applications, and to empower the country to exchange satellite data.

You will report to the System Manager and you will be responsible for the supervision of the project satellite(s) Assembly, Integration and Testing. You will work in close cooperation with the Platform and Payload Engineers.

Duties

  • Coordinating the overall Assembly, Integration and Verification programme including the planning and implementation of verification and validation test campaigns;
  • Monitoring and control of the technical progress in the area of AIT-AIV;
  • Monitoring of the integration and testing PFM spacecraft, including integration with the payload and procurement of GSE and facilities;
  • Following up the procurement of industrial System Support activities related to System Integration, Verification by Test and Testing, including the associated tools;
  • Ensuring definition, completeness, consistency and coherence of AIT requirements and monitoring their implementation and verification;
  • Participation in Project Reviews and as well as lower level reviews in the relevant field of interest;
  • Management and coordination of the specialised engineering support from the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management in the appropriate areas of competence;
  • Supporting the System Manager in all Technical issues, schedule and risk management concerning both satellite platform and payload sub-systems in the field of AIT;
  • Regular reporting to the System Manager;
  • Identifying potential risks at AIT-AIV level and proposing appropriate risk mitigation measures;
  • Coordinating, together with the Product Assurance Manager, the implementation of ESA expertise to support integrated satellite level activities;
  • As part of residency, when applicable, monitoring day to day activity on satellite platform, in close cooperation with the Platform Engineer and on satellite AIT.

Technical competencies

  • Multi-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge of and experience in satellite design, development, verification/testing, launch and in-orbit validation
  • Knowledge of industrial cost and schedule aspects
  • Knowledge of space mission operations and operations planning
  • Knowledge of & experience with PA standards and their application in space projects

Education

  • A Master’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline is required.

Additional requirements

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach, to deal with day-to-day operational challenges;
  • Strong results orientation with the ability to set priorities and present practical solutions, together with demonstrated planning and organisational skills;
  • The ability to summarise complex information and have good communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • The ability to work effectively in an international team environment;
  • Experience in working in complex space programmes up to launch and in-orbit testing is desirable, preferably in telecommunications;
  • Direct experience of working with a commercial telecommunication’s prime contractor and/or operator will be a distinct advantage. Experience with ESA’s Partnership Projects would be an asset.
  • You have experience in working in a cross-functional team and in promoting innovation through a creative collaboration process.
