The opportunity:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Financial Crime Investigations Manager to join the UK Financial Crime Operations and Governance Team within the first line of defence.

We are looking for someone who has a strong working knowledge of all Financial Crime risks facing the financial services. Practical experience in screening, due diligence investigations and governance within either an insurer or bank would be advantageous. We are keen to identify someone who has a good grasp of technical detail and has demonstrable experience in presenting to senior stakeholders. The role will require the individual to manage a small team of experienced staff and deputise for the Head of Financial Crime Operations & Governance. We are focused on identifying someone with proven experience, underpinned by professional qualifications who can effectively work autonomously and as part of a team.

The role provides the individual with a unique opportunity to have oversight of all Financial Crime risks across the UK’s General and Life Insurance business. Working with colleagues across the market-facing business units the successful candidate will be identifiable as a natural leader and an authority on financial crime.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full-time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People management for UK Investigations Team
  • Provide support and advice to team members on technical queries
  • Support screening and governance team managers
  • Continue to develop the Investigations Team and build its capability and reputation
  • Contribute and coordinate key reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the UK business and Group to proactively share knowledge and build consistency in approach
  • Support continuous improvement and automation projects currently deployed

Your skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in working autonomously and as part of a team
  • An agile and curious mindset
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable dealing directly with and challenging at different levels within the organisation
  • Able to proactively suggest solutions to mitigate or resolve identified issues
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
