The opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for an assistant accountant to join the UK Non-Insurance Reporting finance function. You will be responsible for supporting the team in delivering its quarterly and annual financial reporting responsibilities under IFRS and UK GAAP . As part of the role, you will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial information in order to balance financial performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is able to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver on our commitment to customers.

This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time.

Key activities:

Examples of responsibilities are:

  • Preparation of key reports during quarter and year end periods, to support the delivery of all IFRS and UK GAAP requirements;
  • Ongoing analysis / oversight of SAP ledgers including assistance with intercompany balance queries, cash management and journal entries/queries;
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts;
  • Support year end statutory audit activities;
  • Continue to challenge and improve our processes;
  • Provide expertise and support in respect of wider team objectives and projects;
  • Provide broader team support as required.

Your skills and experience:

  • You will be a qualified assistant accountant (AAT level 4) or studying towards an accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA);
  • You will have some knowledge of financial services legislation, regulation and accounting policies;
  • You will have some knowledge of financial systems & business platforms (SAP an advantage);
  • You will have excellent time and task management skills;
  • You will have strong communication skills;
  • You will be a proven quick learner;
  • You will have strong problem-solving skills, and a high level of agility;
  • Competently act as a change agent with the appetite to initiate and implement change and continuous process improvements;
  • You will be a team player with a can-do attitude.
