Where you fit in

The Information Management (IM) team on site manages the doc/data stream from various technical sources. In addition, the IM team is a facilitator of key digital transformation site-wide initiatives. Within the IM team you will be working in a small data quality team.

As a member of the IM data quality team, you will be part of a team that supports two of Shell’s downstream flagship assets; Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam and Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Moerdijk.

What’s the role?

The Data Quality Engineer is an Information Management (IM) professional, responsible for monitoring the data quality of a downstream manufacturing site’s (Technical) data sources.

You are able to find key improvement opportunities and attention points in large data sets and existing processes. Also, you know how to advise key stakeholders on a broad set of variables relating to IM processes and data, such as how to structure their master data register. Inthis position there is also the possibility to take on Data Scientist tasks and grow in your career. The Datalake is enormous, there are over 1.4 million equipment sets on-site with an average of 80 data-items per equipment.

More specifically you will:

- Contribute to the annual review plan

- Contribute to site-wide digitalization projects

- Act as a downstream manufacturing site data quality focal point

- Support site process owners and site process focal points in defining clear guidelines and requirements for data sets created and used for discipline work processes

- Perform analyses on data quality, quantity, consistency in discipline data tools

- Keeping data up-to-date, correcting data, reversed engineering

- Develop your own tools to automate and standardize repetitive processes

- Execute internal process reviews and update procedures related to doc and data quality/ quantity

- Provide internal support to the other Information Management teams (IM Processing & 2D, 3D visualization/digitalization)

What we need from you

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in IT or other relevant field

3 - 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, IT consultancy or equivalent

Experience with Shell downstream manufacturing asset data is a plus

- Strong analytical skills; ability to efficiently collect and interpret data

Problem solving skills, along with a strong sense of ownership

- Advanced MS Office skills

- Programming skills (VBA, python etc.) are a plus

- Experience with developing low-code / no-code DIY tools like PowerApps / PowerBI is a plus

- Experience with SAP is a plus

- Strong communications in English and preferably Dutch

- Customer centric mindset

- Attention to detail
