Job Title: Graduation Internship: “How erratic container flows impact the global tyre industry”

  • Location: Amsterdam
  • Reports to (Position): Logistic Manager Europe
  • Department/Function: Enschede Logistic & Transportation department
  • Location: Enschede

Who we are:

Apollo Tyres is a dynamic and fast-growing Indian tyre manufacturer with a global footprint. Powered by its key brands — Apollo and Vredestein, the company offers a comprehensive product portfolio spread across passenger cars, light trucks, truck-bus, off-highway, and bicycle tires. The company has a manufacturing presence in Asia and Europe with 8 modern tire facilities and exports to over 118 countries.

Department:

The Enschede Logistic & Transportation department represents the backbone of the European operation when it comes to the storage & distribution of produced tires in Europe and India. In our teams we encourage collaboration between highly experienced staff and newcomers, willing to find the best solution for our valued customers (keeping cost in strong context & focus). Our working attitude is “hands-on” and overall supportive.

Internship introduction:

Start date: August/September 2022

Duration: 6 months

The current macroeconomic factors have not only irritated global supply chains, but they also had a heavy impact on shipping costs, unreliable timelines and last but not least, erratic container flows. All these lead to exploding detention & demurrage cost and turbulences in overall supply & availability of product(s). Furthermore, we are facing with a growing tension in the current shipping circumstances.

The main task of the intern will be to evaluate the current global supply impact by the pandemic and propose risk mitigation actions. We have already defined different streams, which show the complexity of the issues we are faced with. We expect the internship to last between 4-6 months. The trainee will also have the opportunity to gain insight into other projects of the team(s).

Make an impact as an intern:

As an intern we’ll help you understand current market & specific conditions adhering to our company. You will discover the actual “as-is” situation & work on risk mitigation actions. You will support the key members of the Logistic Team.

Your responsibilities:

Looking at our defined streams you will propose an end-to-end process on how to better control erratic container flows from India to Europe – taking the globally overstressed container movements into consideration. You will work with one of our key members who oversees the current inbound activities.

What can you expect? (benefits)

- A dynamic and innovative internship environment

- Colleagues from all over the world & team events

- An internship allowance of EUR 650 monthly on a full-time basis

- Company laptop

- Own working space within the office building

- Participation in learning & development activities

- You will be part of our planning & operation Team(s) and hence will experience both: analytical and hands-on mentality.

Do you have what it takes? (requirements)

- Enrolled in the last year of your studies in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or other relevant field (preferably Master studies)

- Good communication skills, able to cooperate with diverse stakeholders

- Positive attitude and team spirit and willingness to learn

- IT skills (SAP, MS Office) required

- Full professional proficiency in English

- You need to be eligible to work in the Netherlands during the whole period
