In this role, you have the opportunity to

Develop new innovations for Philips Lumea, a range of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices for long-term hair removal: https://youtu.be/tn7SQ5j8UJw. This successful product strengthens the reputation of Philips in the consumer product area. It is subject to medical regulations and its functioning is fully dependent on the electronics that deliver sufficient power to the lamp and ensure effective and safe usage of the device.

You are responsible for

  • Designing, realizing and verifying the electronics for the IPL device ; this includes the design of power electronics, analog electronics (e.g. for processing of sensor signals), digital electronics and PCBAs for the device as well as test set-ups
  • Writing all documentation on electronics to ensure that we comply with all applicable standards and regulations and get approval to launch our product
  • Contributions to our technology roadmaps, product roadmaps and process improvements
  • Prioritizing and balancing work in the team, thus ensuring timely deliveries to all projects
  • Delivering fast support towards production and executing improvement actions based on customer feedback

You are a part of

The team within Philips Grooming & Beauty that develops the electronics for Philips Lumea IPL devices. This team is highly skilled in both analog and digital electronics and has the expertise to develop the power electronics that drive the lamp of the IPL device. You will work together with very supportive colleagues at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the unparalleled innovative hotspot in the south of the Netherlands.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 years maximum of work experience
  • Knowledge of design of analog and digital electronics
  • A strong affinity with Power Electronics
  • A hands-on and can-do mentality and a strong quality mindset
  • Excellent communication skills (English)
  • Abstract, analytical, and creative thinking skills
  • Motivation skills and persuasiveness
  • Good collaboration skills, since you will be working with many disciplines and people from various companies across the world
  • The ambition to further develop yourself in the technical areas mentioned above and to grow towards an expert role

And preferably you are familiar with:

  • Hardware/software co-design and embedded software
  • Modeling/simulation of electronics (power, analog and digital)
  • Microprocessors, connectivity and sensor technologies
  • EMC standards and measurement techniques
  • Industrialization aspects of PCB and PCBA designs
